Comedian Kevin Hart’s plant-based fast-food chain appears to have ceased all operations this week.
Hart House, which operated four locations in the Los Angeles area, shut down on Tuesday, as reported by Eater.
The move comes just over a year after the chain opened a restaurant with a drive thru at the corner of Sunset Boulevard and Highland Avenue.
Hart House CEO Andy Hooper thanked everyone who was part of the Hart House journey.
“The response to the product has been incredible, and we thank our committed team, our customers, and our community partners for helping make the change we all craved, and for their unwavering support of Hart House,” he said.

After all, he didn’t have a steak in the company.
I only came into this thread because I could hear THAT rimshot from my front yard! lol
So my plans for a “Jimminy Cricket Burger” franchise might not be the brilliant idea the Inflation Reduction Act tells me it will be?
“The company also sought to reinvent the labor model with higher wages and health care coverage for hourly workers, as well as “a lifestyle spending account with access to things like Netflix subscriptions, and access to an interest-earning savings account to which the company contributed,” according to Restaurant Business.“

$20.00 an hour minimum wage, the cost of rents, outrageous regulations, outrageous insurance rates, outrageous worker comp rates AND NO OTHER restaurants outside of the state to compensate for the utter losses in this state, WHAT THE HELL could possibly go wrong???
“helping make the change we all craved”, which apparently was to abruptly close down the whole shebang ...
“unwavering support of Hart House” until we were forced to abruptly shut down the whole shebang ...
I'll bet it was. Take away a "c" and an "r" and you have "inedible".
So?! He’s a brand, a business man and he was smart, he set a loss limit and when the enterprise hit that number he bailed. If he was in government he’d just keep spending other people’s money.
Movie stars and athletes seem to love to invest in restaurants.
Its a TOUGH business. Even more so if you aren’t involved in daily operations.
They should just buy the S&P 500 and walk away.
The response to the product has been incredible,
Response was not incredible enough ... just saying.
I thought the Impossible Whopper I tried tasted ok. Of course it’s loaded with fat and salt, which will make most things taste good.
The meat of the situation is this:
He thought his work was well done, but even though it’s rare for Kevin, he was out-flanked by the market.
Let us hope he never becomes an airline pilot.
“We are about to crash and die in less than a minute. I want to thank everyone for a wonderful flight.”
:-)
Response has been SO GOOD that they've CLOSED.. yeah, right!
