There's an investigation underway in Tempe after a Wells Fargo employee died while on the job. A new timeline released by police suggests her body was there for four days before being discovered.

"It's really heartbreaking and I'm thinking, 'What if I were just sitting there?'" a worker said. "No one would check on me?"

The body was found inside the Wells Fargo corporate office in Tempe. An associate who spoke with 12News anonymously said the situation is troubling.

"To hear she's been sitting at the desk like that would make me feel sick," the worker said. "And nobody did anything. That's how she spent her last moments."

Tempe police confirmed with 12News that on Aug. 16, 60-year-old Denise Prudhomme scanned into work at the building at 7 a.m. On Aug. 20, building security called authorities after finding an unresponsive worker. Officers arrived and confirmed that Prudhomme was dead.

Another employee who spoke with 12News anonymously said a colleague found Prudhomme dead at her desk in a cubicle while walking around the building.

Having worked late nights in a big office I don’t find this unusual. Some guy who doesn’t speak English would duck in, not look at you, pull the bag out of your garbage can, replace it and be gone. I always spoke to them and at least smiled and said, “Thank you.” But most wouldn’t. If the person appeared to be working or asleep it’s unlikely, they’d even run the vacuum down that aisle. Most workers treat the night cleaners as invisible, and the cleaners treat the workers the same way. The bigger the company the more invisible they are.

You are certainly right on that score.

I always treated the maintenance staff as equal co-workers. They were an important part of our team. Also, if you have forgotten your keys, it is good to know them by first name. Although I’m retired, I still have the name of one of the maintenance staff members stored in my phone and we text occasionally.

When I had events, I’d let them know in advance so they could schedule a cleaning for the room, and tell them they could have any of the leftover food trays. They appreciated the notice and the food since they were the lowest paid employees in the building.

Many treat janitorial staff just as another piece of machinery and ignore them otherwise. They don’t realize being “invisible” allows those employees to pick up on many secrets that corporate would rather keep hidden. If you want to know something about a company, ask the cleaning staff.

Her phone was connected.

The other end of the line was getting a message, “Your call is important to us, a representative will be with you shortly.”

They find a lot of people face down on their desks who feel too attached to their job to retire.

It sucks losing a weekend at work like that.

Geez. I remember the days when that was a joke.

As in:

Anyone who believes the dead cannot come back to life has never been here at quitting time!

That one?

Me too. Even the non-English speakers notice and appreciate recognition of their humanity.

A former supervisor that I worked for is in his late 70's and refuses to retire. The talk is that one he'll be found dead in his office, and no one is taking that as a joke. Unless he is forced to retire everyone is confident that's what'll happen.

If so, he really would die doing what he loves.

John 11:39 "Martha, the sister of him that was dead, saith unto him, Lord, by this time he stinketh: for he hath been dead four days." KJV

It's a smell you never forget.

Yep. My best friend was a mortician, I'd sometimes visit her at work.

When you are dead you don’t care. Sorry for the family though.

LOL! My wife thought I was joking again when I told her about this. I had to read it to her and show her the clip form Channel 12 in Phoenix. We watched 12 all the time when we lived there so she knew I was joking. LOL.

He’s not an effective leader, never was, and he constantly gets in the way of anyone who doesn’t see his vision. There comes a time when everyone has to realize when it’s time to hang it up and let the younger generation take over. Too many don’t. Look at our government for many examples of those who don’t know when to retire.

All that being said, HE would die doing what HE loved. Even if his coworkers didn’t love him doing it.

They should have gotten Joe an Apple watch. He could look at it periodically, to make sure he’s alive, and an alarm could be made to sound a few minutes after cessation of life functions.
