There's an investigation underway in Tempe after a Wells Fargo employee died while on the job. A new timeline released by police suggests her body was there for four days before being discovered.

"It's really heartbreaking and I'm thinking, 'What if I were just sitting there?'" a worker said. "No one would check on me?"

The body was found inside the Wells Fargo corporate office in Tempe. An associate who spoke with 12News anonymously said the situation is troubling.

"To hear she's been sitting at the desk like that would make me feel sick," the worker said. "And nobody did anything. That's how she spent her last moments."

Tempe police confirmed with 12News that on Aug. 16, 60-year-old Denise Prudhomme scanned into work at the building at 7 a.m. On Aug. 20, building security called authorities after finding an unresponsive worker. Officers arrived and confirmed that Prudhomme was dead.

Another employee who spoke with 12News anonymously said a colleague found Prudhomme dead at her desk in a cubicle while walking around the building.

If this was a government office it'd be easier to understand as it's hard to tell the difference between a government worker and a dead person.

Sad that she had nobody at home to notice she wasn't there.

Also weird the cleaning crew didn't notice.

Maybe this story will prod the Secret Service to check on Flatlinejoe a little more often.

“Also weird the cleaning crew didn’t notice.”

Having worked late nights in a big office I don’t find this unusual. Some guy who doesn’t speak English would duck in, not look at you, pull the bag out of your garbage can, replace it and be gone. I always spoke to them and at least smiled and said, “Thank you.” But most wouldn’t. If the person appeared to be working or asleep it’s unlikely, they’d even run the vacuum down that aisle. Most workers treat the night cleaners as invisible, and the cleaners treat the workers the same way. The bigger the company the more invisible they are.

BTW, the fact I didn’t act like others got me a LOT of special treatment. While chatting to a night construction guy I said, “Sure would be nice if this cube was a bit bigger.” The next day it extended all the way to a blind corner, about five feet. Extra matching panels and a desk extension were installed. (magic!)

Family? Friends? Co-workers? Truly sad if she had no one else.

They saw someone, no eye contact, and likely Mex cleaning staff?

My experience as well. The cleaning crew mission was to work as fast as possible and get it done without having to expose the fact they couldn’t speak English.

“CatOwner” didn’t even worry about her cats? Think how hungry they were!

Kidding aside, it IS sad.

But, if she has adult children who have moved out of the house and is a widow or divorced, I can see it happening. We have excellent neighbors who look out for each other, but everybody is always coming and going, taking trips, etc, so I’m not sure how long it would be before the neighbors noticed I wasn’t coming home from work — especially if you drive your car into the garage and close the garage door behind you.

I retired from my job in 2011 and moved to Thailand. Came back to file taxes in 2012 and visited the office. The cleaning lady, a big black woman, saw me, came up and gave me a big hug saying how much she missed me. I knew her name and had talked to her regularly.

Indeed. I remember when The Far Side was a comic strip. Then one day I awoke inside of it.
