The greed is unreal.
When football fans realized that it costs a whopping $679.99 for NFL Sunday Ticket through the Apple Store, or $739.99 if you decide to bundle in NFL RedZone, a ton of them went absolutely bonkers in anger.
The ridiculous prices were revealed by NBC Sports’ ProFootballTalk, and understandably so, it set off a reaction of rage among the NFL‘s fanbase. And to nobody’s surprise, that $679.99 price tag (or $739.99) to watch through Apple TV, iPads, iPhones and other Apple devices is the highest price out of all streaming services. Because of course it is.
It was rumored in 2023 that Apple spoke with the NFL about including access to Sunday Ticket in their Apple TV+ subscription that costs just $6.99. That’s all it would’ve cost under Apple’s plan. But the NFL being the greedy brand that they are, declined. (RELATED: ‘Sign The Contract’: Dolphins’ Tyreek Hill Issues Official 50-Yard Challenge To US Olympic Gold Medalist Noah Lyles)
Oh, but it gets worse.
According to a report from Courthouse News, ESPN made the suggestion to the NFL to bring down their price to $70 per month. But nope, that wasn’t good enough for the league either.
Kudos to Apple and ESPN for at least trying to bring down the Sunday Ticket price. The NFL, on the other hand, should be utterly ashamed of themselves.
My wife and I are over here saving up for a house … there’s no way in hell I can justify spending this much money on a TV package. (Anybody down to be my Sunday Ticket sponsor?)
Yes, just like they sell everybody elses stuff. There’s a ‘small fee’..............
I buy Sunday Ticket through YouTubeTV. Since I bought it in June, the price was reduced to $380. On this service, I can watch any game on my phone, iPad, or multiple TV’s. I usually have three tv’s running in my basement on Sundays.
I like football, and always have. I’ve played fantasy football for 31 years now and still love it. I’m not sure how many more years of football we have left? Before long, I think it will convert to flag football. Ie: no more hitting. Or, the coming scandal over game-fixing will kill it. I watch a LOT of football. I’m 100% certain at least half, if not all, NFL outcomes are controlled.
It’s a show, as much as the WWE. But I don’t know the outcome yet, so it’s still entertaining.
My wife, who loves football, is convinced that the Mafia controls everything in sports....................
They charge it because idiot tools will pay for it.
I’ll watch it if it’s free and I don’t have anything else to do.
I know, sportsball guys talking all tough about their teams while their women wear the names of another guy on their back. Make me chuckle. I have in-laws like that. And yea, the guy is kind of a simp.
Bad news for you....even college football is pro. Players go to different schools in order to get better NIL deals. They get to transfer to other schools almost on a whim or if they get a better NIL deal.
No longer rah, rah, sis-boom bah.....football in college is a public funded, or private funded farm system for NFL...and other leagues.
I can’t even watch them anymore.
> I’d like to know who is buying these packages.
I’d guess that it is mostly inertia. Guys who grew up watching the games every Sunday. Now they’re getting older have money and don’t really want to change their habits. For myself, I don’t find much interesting in it anymore.
Not sure how they'll recover from the scandal. If the NFL is like WWE.
I will never understand why people follow this choreographed dressed up in pretty colors nonsense who’s participant are largely neadrethal street thugs. Get a life losers.
I have not watched a complete NFL game since they started dancing in the end zone back around early 90s. Not only that, its BO-riiiinnnnggggg.
Sunday ticket has always been expensive. Especially give how much of the NFL schedule has only 1 game happening. Doesn’t infuriate me, I just don’t sign up.
You don’t need data when it’s blatantly obvious who the primary fans are buying the overpriced tickets and apparel.
Sounds like prestige pricing
As a former college football coach, I see the problems that have come to college football...I STILL prefer to watch college ball rather than pro...
If someone doesn’t care to watch either, that is what the remote is for...
I’ve lived in the South my whole life.....where college football is king. Well, the transfer portal has ruined that and wokeness has ruined the nfl so I’m out.....I might watch games here and there but giving ‘em my hard earned money?......not no but hell no.
The tickets were free for common citizens at the Roman Coliseum. Bread was cheap too....................until it wasn’t.
Thanks for the pic...The “Blonde Bomber” was #38 in my program, but always #1 in my heart!
This is a test probe by the NFL proctologists. To see how much of a righteous reaming out, the sports ball addicts will tolerate, or not pay up.
$700 seems like a lot to watch games not in your market.
Maybe they are positioning this for bars and such, can’t imagine lots of people buying this option.
A sucker is born every minute, and two to take him
