Joe Biden Issues a Stinging Dissent
The New York Times ^ | Aug. 2, 2024, 5:06 a.m. ET | Jamelle Bouie

Posted on 08/02/2024 8:30:07 AM PDT by E. Pluribus Unum

The Supreme Court is caught in a crisis of its own making.

There is the gross corruption of Justice Clarence Thomas and Justice Samuel Alito, who have received millions of dollars in gifts and benefits from various billionaire benefactors.

There is the court’s open assault on the basic rights of tens of millions of Americans, exemplified in its decision to overturn the constitutional right to an abortion on the basis of a vague and inconsistent standard of “text, history and tradition.”

And there is the hubris of Chief Justice Roberts, who, the legal scholar Eric J. Segall writes, has “led the court to coerce both state and federal governments to abide by his personal preferences, whether or not positive legal sources supported those decisions and at times even when prior law quite clearly did not justify the chief’s opinions and votes.”

It is a testament to Roberts’s skill as a politician that he is often viewed as a modest and moderate judicial institutionalist when, in fact, he has used his position on the court to spearhead a remarkable campaign of judicial activism. In cases like Shelby County v. Holder in 2013 or the more recent West Virginia v. EPA, Roberts all but deployed novel constitutional doctrines (“equal state sovereignty” and the “major questions doctrine”) to achieve his preferred results. In just the last term, the Roberts court has rewritten the 14th Amendment to keep Donald Trump on the presidential ballot as well as radically expanded presidential power in direct contravention of the history, text and structure of the Constitution.

Article presented under the topic "humor" to grant it the respect it deserves.

The NYT certainly has ramped up their marxist rhetoric over the last couple of weeks.

Too bad that there is such a small percentage of Americans who actually peruse that rag in the first place. For the most part, they're simply preaching to their own liberal choir.

The NYT is writing for the foolish and the ignorant. No one paying any attention believes Joe Biden did anything of the kind.

Typical New York Slimes going to the deep jungles of Papua New Guinea, to hire a savage pygmy cannibal to write articles about American constitutional jurisprudence.

What’s next from professor Bouie, an article about the racist tendencies of the Theory of Relativity? /spit

Biden has no use for US laws.

The Trump campaign filed a complaint on Tuesday with the FEC accusing Biden and Harris of violating campaign finance laws by rolling Biden’s campaign funds over to Harris. The complaint came after Biden’s team had amended the name of its campaign committee Sunday to “Harris for President.”

What happens to the $240M Biden raised for reelection, selected in the primary by 14 million voters?
<><>It’s a complicated FEC issue.
<><>Biden’s reelection efforts raised a total of $240 million at the end of June 2024.
<><>Those funds are split across the DNC, allied committees and Biden’s campaign committee, itself.
<><>The Biden campaign committee, alone, holds $95.9 million as of the end of last month.
<><>Biden has now transferred $91 million to Kamala
<><>The FEC chair intimated that Harris might not actually be eligible to access the funds.
<><>He pointed to this regulation: 11 C.F.R. § 110.1(b)(3): “If the candidate is not a candidate in the general election, all contributions made for the general election shall be either returned or refunded to the contributors or redesignated ..., or reattributed ..., as appropriate.”

The Racist NY Times and other Leftists are caught in the trap of having their panties in a massive wad. For decades the Left’s only real victories came from the SCOTUS. Lord knows, they couldn’t push through any of their priorities at the ballot box because the voters didn’t support any of it.

Now that Republican presidents have nominated a mildly originalist SCOTUS, not only is the Left not getting any more victories, they’re actually having some of the ground they took before taken back from them. Naturally, they’re having a complete meltdown about it and pretending that there is suddenly something wrong with the SCOTUS that was all fine and dandy before....when they were getting rulings they liked.

From the article’s perspective, it seems like Supreme Court justices have to be completely insulated from the normal course of society, including selling, buying, speaking, etc.

That’s not even possible in a loony leftist’s world.

ROFL!!!

NY Slimes is lying through it's rotten blood-stained teeth.

Roe v. Wade was decided on the insane and inconsistent standard of "emanations from a penumbra". Roe v. Wade was the product of ideologically motivated anti-constitutional clowns.

Sort of like the editorial board and reportorial staff at the NY Slimes.

It is absolutely disgusting that the media is this nakedly partisan.

Nakedly partisan media is the norm, historically. The idea of "impartial, objective reporting" is relatively new, and utterly fraudulent from the start.

Missing from this situation is nakedly partisan media on OUR side.

Shortly after Donald Trump was elected president in 2016, he wrote an article for Slate arguing that there was "no such thing as a good Trump voter."

This is probably one of the worst articles out of the failed NYT. It is full of untruths, propaganda and Leftist talking points. The print version of this article is not even worthy of lining the bottom of a bird cage.
