Something less serious - is today's NFL safe to watch?
My struggling brain | 7/26/2024 | Me

Posted on 07/26/2024 11:24:54 AM PDT by freedumb2003

I have not watched an NFL game for 7+ years. I started to try to watch it but still there was too much woke crap.

I do play NFL Pro Era on my Quest headset and I love.

Understand: before kaperdink I LOVED the NFL. I am one of those guys who digs deep into strategy and tactics and know the difference between the two.

I hear the NFL as cleaned up its act and is not allowing any of the nonsense they used to do but I have no way of knowing.

One last note - pre kaperdink I *lived* for the NFL. I did not go to a college with football and I never much cared the college game.

I want to hear from Fellow Freeper Football Fans. Is it worth it to go back in?

No... And I don’t see how anyone could watch it or support it.

Capitulation of woke is being woke too.

Old saying: football is lots of people, who need exercise, watching 22 people, who need rest.
The games are not worth wasting your precious life’s time on. Period. Highlights if you must. Learn how to do a necessary skill instead...

Even if you wanted to watch the NFL it would be hard if you are a normal over the air TV watcher. IIRC this year they will be broadcasting on a bunch of odd cable channels for some games. I think they are the channels you only watch during March Madness.

I was also a rabid NFL fan, particularly the Giants and Jets since I lived in Jersey. The kneeling did me in as it did so many others and for a few years I refused to watch it. But then my son clued me in to NFL RedZone. I love football action, not necessarily the league or any individual teams, so the RedZone feeds my enjoyment of actually seeing the professionals playing while not being emotionally tied to one or two teams. That saves me from locking myself in the bathroom to spite my wife who was making fun of my tears after a particularly galling loss to the Dallas Cryboys one Sunday afternoon in the 90’s…

I stopped watching when they allowed free agency. That meant the Steelers would no longer have a dynasty.

I watch occasionally. The problem is, I have no cable TV, antenna is spotty at best, so I stream. Prime, Paramount, share Max with family and free streaming sites. Not much in the way of sports without paying for it. A 60 minute game, that takes 190 minutes. That is about 2 hrs of commercials and BS. THEN THEY MAKE US PAY TO ACCESS IT. We the People sell our souls to the circus, losing our freedom because we are fat, lazy and shiftless.

I found it was more satisfying to root against a team than for one. Only one team wins at the end of the year.

The kneeling was almost over when Trump complained which brought it back. And even then it only lasted a couple of months.

Translation: "I love watching the NFL flag-kneelers and leftist apes... and that was all Trump's fault.

Thread d-bag... as always.

..most of the people telling you that you’re a dope for watching football are likely 300 pounds and typing bravely from Mom’s basement.

I workout 4 times a week, am very fit and "typing bravely" from a luxury hotel in Naples.

You're some stupid dick who supports flag kneelers and those who hate your country... then is stupid enough to actually brag about it.

“I stopped watching or paying attention 7-8 years ago and I’ve never looked back. I don’t miss it one bit.”

I enjoy NHL, but who has time to devote any time to watching. I skim recaps mostly.

sorry, but the nfl is totally fixed...outcomes are determined by the gambling industry with gambling going on DURING the game which is why you have key players "injured"...gamblers react and put more money down...they the "injured" player comes back in...gamblers go in deeper...

watch the clips of Aaron Rodgers, Lawrence injuries...watch the seahawk running back give the defender a thumbs up MID PLAY so the defender would go over the running back so he could score...

watch the nfl, but don't expect to see the athletes actually trying to win....they're playing their part in a show..

After 50 years of loyal viewership I fired the NFL.

They crapped on their demographic and I crap back.

A couple years ago I noticed a NFL Jersey in my neighbors fire pit, unburnt, apparently awaiting the next fire. After dark I ran over and added one of my own. I bet he got a chuckle when he saw 2.

NFL is in heavily involved with the sexual degenerates/LGBQT####whatever to appeal towards Larry Fink and his DEI “stakeholder” ideology while trying to expand their market share with all that crap along with females (Swift in-toe) sympathizing fag hags. Take that what you will, still playing fantasy due to family involvement. A lot of nice God-fearing players and staff, the administrative offices though are a lost political cause.

I fired the NFL years ago and haven't looked back. They have worked overtime to alienate long-standing fans. I go back to the 70's and football was a big part of life (former friends and acquaintances played) and culture, but no longer.

The games have become progressively worse over the years

1. Too long.
2. Too many commercials
3. Announcing terrible
4. Too many replays
5. Woke garbage still happening
6. Egos

TBH, it's just not an enjoyable experience and I have much better things do with 3-4 hrs.
