Indiana Fever rookie Caitlin Clark will reportedly not make the final 12-player USA women's basketball team for the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris, according to USA Today's Christine Brennan and The Athletic.

Here is what the expected roster will look like, which will be led by Cheryl Reeve, Minnesota Lynx head coach and president of basketball operations.

Kahleah Copper Chelsea Gray A'ja Wilson Breanna Stewart Diana Taurasi Brittney Griner Alyssa Thomas Napheesa Collier Jewell Loyd Kelsey Plum Jackie Young Sabrina Ionescu

The final Olympic roster isn't only Reeves' call. A committee that includes three women's college basketball coaches — Dawn Staley, Seimone Augustus, Delisha Milton-Jones — as well as Jennifer Rizzotti, president of the Connecticut Sun and head coach of the U.S. women's 3-on-3 Olympic team, and WNBA head of league operations Bethany Donaphin made the decision.

Sabrina Ionescu is married to an NFL player with the Raiders, she’s on the Women’s team.

Jokic and Dončić are foreign. I can’t name one American born basketball player who’s white.

The filthy White-hating racists have won. They condemned this woman for being White and straight. It’s what they want to do to all of us.

It's been that way for a few generations now. They've declared war on men. Now they're done with that. Next they're attacking CC.

Chet Holmgren and Tyler Herro are probably two of the best.

That was the first thing that I thought of.

She was a freshman at UConn in 2001 when they lost to Notre Dame in the national semi-finals (ND won the tournament). That would make Diana 42 or so.

According to Wikipedia both Taurasi and Breanna Stewart (arguably the most successful women’s b-ball player of all time) are lesbians, and married with children. Both are white.

There are two Notre Dame women on the team: Jewell Loyd and Jackie Young. Both were fantastic when they were at ND (their times at ND did not overlap).

This had to have been a tough team to make; another ND woman, Arike Ogunbowale, who is arguably as good as Caitlin Clark, didn’t get picked.

Minutes played 39
Points 30
Rebounds 8
Assists 6
Steals 4
Blocks 0
Turnovers 8

Not a bad stat line last night. Gotta work on those turnovers Caitlin, when you’re double-teamed don’t dribble the ball to the sideline where you are effectively triple-teamed. No Clark and I don’t watch.

Going by merit alone, CC did not earn the spot (yet).

But we're talking ratings here. Millions of Americans won't be watching now.

If they had an ugly black lesbian basketball league, would it be any different from the WNBA?

Just asking for a friend.

New rule:

A player may have one ball in motion at a time.

This cuts the audience for their games by at least 1/2, probably more.

Viewership and attendance is great for the league but means nothing when trying to build a team that gets a gold medal. And sure she’s doing well for a rookie, OK for the general population. But there’s no reason to get rid of somebody with more experience and better stats for her. Also you’ve got to look at her energy levels. Because of the weirdness of the schedule she’s played more games in the last 9 months than ever and that number is just going to keep climbing. By the time the Olympics start she’ll be at around twice as many games as she’s ever played in a year. At some point she’s gonna run out of gas. Give her the time off, build a better team, and we’ll see in 4 years.

CC is a rookie. The Olympics are now thoroughly professionalized. If she stays healthy, CC will be a candidate for three, maybe four, Olympic cycles. I’m not at all surprised that the U.S. team is comprised of seasoned pros.

The same thing happened in men’s basketball. Most of us are old enough to remember when we sent college players. That was a looooong time ago.

The league is already gambling an asset. Those WNBA players want to injure Caitlin. And the WNBA is letting it happen.

I think it's better the way we did back in the old days. Maybe there should be a rule. You can't turn 22 during the Olympics and you can only compete in the Olympics once. If you get hurt, too bad.

There are other games for the "pros". World Baseball Classic. World Cup. Etc.

I predict that WITHOUT Clark on the team viewership will go DOWN. The American public LOVES this young girl from Iowa.

Like it or not, she's the BIG DRAW in increased viewership first for college and now for the WNBA. Stephen A on ESPN said it best.. she is the reason EVERYONE is watching... be careful NOT to kill the "Golden Goose!"
