HEAVEN — Watching as the last vestige of the nation he helped found crumbled, George Washington sighed and remarked that America still had gone on a pretty solid two-hundred-fifty year run.
"Not bad, gentlemen," said Washington to a few other Founding Fathers. "It's sad to see it end, but we had a pretty epic couple of centuries there."
As the United States breathed its last, Washington opined on what he and the other Fathers could have done differently. "Maybe we should have added a few more instructions, like, ‘No, seriously, you can't infringe on the Bill of Rights, you jackwagons," said Washington. "Perhaps a few notes on the absolute need to teach Judeo-Christian morality, not allowing anti-Christian cultists to have power, or the President needing a few functioning neurons. Oh, well. Hindsight and all that."
At publishing time, Washington had reportedly consoled himself by remembering that he wouldn't have to spend eternity with the people who'd destroyed his nation.
God wins in the end. George will then be able to say the system worked.
Might be generous by 2 years
at the rate things are going
The founding fathers put in the 2nd Amendment for precisely this eventuality (or probability or possibility). They did all they could. It’s up to us.
Very.
even in jest, i’m not ready to roll over for the progressives and crater this country so they can take over to make their marxist ‘utopia’
Pretty sure he said that "Four Score and Seven Years" wasn't a bad run.
That's how long the original Republic lasted. What we had after 1863 was a *MASSIVE* and out of control Federal government.
I very greatly doubt our current crop of morons could do better than the geniuses that were the original framers.
Something about wholly designed for a moral and upright people come to mind.
I’d suggest creating a government that is only for “a moral and religious people” yet not declaring the country Christian would eventually run into problems.
We currently are a kakistocracy: a government run by the worst, least qualified, or most unscrupulous citizens.
Just because Americans are becoming illiterate, and don’t know how to use a dictionary is not a good reason to change the Constitution.
Very well said, RoosterRedux.
“We will get over this and be stronger for it. Take heart because this battle has just begun...and we will win.”
That’s the spirit.
That was John Adams, not Washington.
And Adams probably had Christianity (with a Protestant emphasis) in mind. Not "Judeo-Christian," as that concept did not yet exist.
:-)
Date of America’s death: Tuesday, January 20, 2009
The beginning of the end was January 20, 1989.
