NEW YORK, NY — After news broke that the bond amount in his fraud case had been lowered from $454 million to $175 million, former President Donald Trump announced he would pay the bond in its entirety with bags of nickels.
Trump notified the court that preparations had already been made for a fleet of armored trucks to arrive at the courthouse and begin unloading cases and cases of freshly minted and rolled nickels totaling $175 million.
"Beautiful, shiny nickels. So many nickels," Trump said in his announcement. "It's a total sham that I have to pay anything, but now that the bond amount has been significantly reduced, I will now pay it in full with five-cent pieces. Our wonderful U.S. nickel. Thomas Jefferson on one side. We love Thomas Jefferson, don't we, folks? I hope Letitia James loves him too, because she's going to be seeing $175 million worth of him. I win once again, just like I will in November, believe me. Bigly!"
New York Attorney General Letitia James had her staff searching through state laws in an effort to find a way to prevent Trump from paying his bond in change to no avail. "He won't get away with this," James was overheard saying. "He thinks he can dump $175 million in nickels in my office? Time to cook up another baseless lawsuit."
At publishing time, Trump was reportedly facing new indictment charges for failing to fall into financial ruin by the previous set of indictment charges.
Given the situation, I hope you paid them in loose pennies rather than rolled pennies. They deserved it.
Totally agree. What a great way to show his contempt for the whole process. It is obvious contempt but what could James and the creepy little judge do about it? They couldn't hold him in contempt of court because $1 bills are legal tender.
The Donald could even make some money off this. Because it is a bond to be held until final court resolution, could he request the bills to be held in secure storage? Once a reasonable court tosses this sham lawsuit, he demands return of his $1 bills. Print up some certificates of authenticity and sell them for $10 a piece. I'd buy one just as a way of giving this corrupt NY legal system the middle finger.
Satire, but I like the idea.
I was thinking that exact thing
Great idea!
Trump should negotiate the coin payment....Nickels NO Dimes umm, maybe OK, you get it in Quarters. Done deal.
This is the funniest one from the Bee in a long time!
He should pay it in $2 dollar bills. Letitia James is so stupid she probably doesn’t know they exist.
I am not sure they have any rule about nickles.
Trump was indicted once again, this time for failing to "fall into financial ruin".

I like that
...as there's not a dimes worth of difference from what these cretins are doing...compared with any other of history's tyrannical regimes.
A roll of nickels is $2.00. If a roll weighs around 5 Oz, that would be just about 1.1 million pounds. At 75,000 pounds per semi it would take only about 15 to 20 loads if you count pallets.
All rough math with assumptions.
Before checking the source I wondered, Is there that many nickel in circulation?
US Currency-—for public & private debts-——
Thx. Was wondering about that.
I watched PDJT at the press conference at the end of his court hearing today. At the end press conference some reporter asked him how he was going to pay (securities, bonds, cash). As he walked away from the podium, he blurted back to the reporter, “NICKELS”!
I laughed my a$$ off!
Turns out the Bee caught that too!
That man is nothing if not entertaining. His sense of humor is refreshing.
The problem with pennies is they have that over-rated Lincoln on them.
