CNN beclowns itself by confirming the escalating cost-of-living crisis while trying to pin it on Trump

Many people posing as journalists acknowledge problems, while also working very hard to cover up the cause of the problem.

A recent article from Matt Egan at CNN admits that Americans have a problem paying for things… but neither he, nor any of the outlet’s other employees ever bring up Joe Biden or his policies as a significant cause of the problem; read here:

Americans’ cost of living remains a massive headache, even as recession fears fade

The long-rumored recession has been postponed – or perhaps canceled altogether.

The soft-landing vibes are real. Inflation is cooling. The economy is growing at a shockingly strong pace. And unemployment hasn’t been this low for this long since the late 1960s.

And yet, hidden behind these boomy-economic indicators, a frustrating reality persists: Life is far too expensive for far too many.

‘This affordability crisis has been in the works since the financial crisis. Affordability will remain an issue until we get more housing supply,’ said Mark Zandi, chief economist at Moody’s Analytics.

Egan says the problem has been building for years instead of admitting that inflation didn’t start increasing rapidly until Biden took office. Despite COVID and supply chain issues, inflation remained below 2%... until Biden. The economy was growing rapidly pre-Biden, despite the entire country having come to a screeching halt over a virus, yet he signed the $2 trillion American Rescue Plan, and fulfilled his campaign promise to destroy affordable energy (oil), which sent prices skyrocketing. He compounded the inflation problem by issuing executive orders to open the borders: housing, food, education, healthcare, law enforcement, energy, and other things are obviously strained when millions of people are suddenly thrown into the mix, bringing no wealth and anti-American cultures and ethos.

"Affordability will remain an issue until we get more housing supply" -- Mark Zandi, chief economist at Moody’s Analytics.

Rather than increasing supply, how about we reduce demand by deporting 20 million illegals?

I’m genuinely confused about the recession. I do not think things are going well. Jobs aren’t good, housing isn’t good, prices went way up and aren’t coming down. I don’t think wages are trending up. Sure, the stock market is up, but that doesn’t mean the broad economy is good. And the numbers from the UIS government, in my opinion, are probably faked and say something better than what is actually true.

And yet it seems broadly accepted that we are not in a recession now and may not go into a recession. But the UK is, Germany is, Japan is, many countries are in a recession right now. But not the US. Because we spend $1T that we don’t have every 100 days or so, and therefore we are recession-proof.

Seems hinky to me.

"Inflation is cooling..."

In December I paid $1.64 for 18-count Extra Large eggs at Walmart. 3 days ago, I paid $4.82 for the same.

Now we know why they took food prices out of the CPI.

That's because he's considering reducing the deficit by taxing the wealthy.

You know the wealthy...all those evil straight, Christian, Trump-supporting white people with net worths greater than $100,000.

And if Netanyahu doesn't behave, he may toss the Jews into that pool.

I 100% agree with your opinion on this, except I think it’s more like 60 million ‘Undocumented-most not working’

I figured we couldn’t deport all 60 million right away, so I suggest we go for the low-hanging fruit 20 million as a down payment. It would have a HUGE impact on housing right away.

Later we can work on the other 40 million.

IMHO, part of the confusion is the fact of the technical definition of a recession: two consecutive quarters of decline GDP. Then you get into how GDP is calculated, and that's how we often avoid a technical recession while real Americans are in one.

GDP is the total spending by consumers, businesses, and government. Traditionally, about 1/3rd of the GDP is government spending, but that increases a lot to "help" us when real recessions begin. That makes GDP go up (as far as how it's calculated goes).

IMHO, basing GDP in part from government spending would be like if I was still married to my ex-wife and tried to tell you, "Our household finances are great! Look at how much debt she keeps adding to our credit cards!".

Food and fuel were taken out of the CPI with the excuse that those prices were too volatile.

right...

Yes.

The inflation numbers look good — if we keep things like food and energy out of the equation.
And Recessions are unlikely — if we calculate massive deficit spending as a type of “growth”.

Similarly, some Democrat cities are cutting way back on crime fighting. Fewer arrests means that the official crime rate has to go down, indicating that letting criminals run wild is the key to success.

We can't add 5 million people to the economy in just three years and not expect demand to exceed the supply that was balanced for the population that existed before Biden opened the border.

Energy consumption is up.

Food consumption is up.

Water consumption is up.

Housing consumption is up.

Theft is up.

Violent crime is up.

All of these things have economic consequences.

We are in the undeclared recession. An hour after Donald J. Trump raises his hand next January to take office again they will be screaming about Trump’s recession.

As for the true unemployment numbers, they’re ignoring the lowering of time to declare someone out of the job market and the U6 numbers and the unemployed illegals. It’s sickening. They’re playing with numbers but we’re suffering hourly.

Dry it up in an instant.

1) Any illegal caught will be deported. Immediately. No questions.
2) If you are caught employing an illegal and are cited by law enforcement, you get 3 days. If you’re still employing them, it’s a $500,000.00 fine per day per illegal.
3) If you are caught aiding and abetting an illegal alien, you have committed a felony of 5-10 years in jail per illegal.
4) If you’re caught funding or working for an illegal alien support NGO, you’re charged with treason and if convicted, executed.
5) If you turn in a person who is subject to fines for this, you receive 10% of the fine.

So it has less than 0% chance of implementation. They govern AGAINST us.

Very much so.

During the Obama years there were multiple years where the GDP growth was less than the created money by several times.
