On the eve of the third anniversary of the Jan. 6 Capitol riot, a $30 million wrongful death suit has been filed against the federal government for the Capitol Police shooting of Air Force veteran Ashli Babbitt.

Washington-based Judicial Watch filed the suit on behalf of Babbitt’s estate and her husband, Aaron Babbitt, claiming the officer who shot Babbitt was “incompetent” and “dangerous” and should have seen that the 35-year-old posed no threat to Congress when she entered the House speaker’s lobby.

The negligence lawsuit was filed in the U.S. District Court Southern District of California.

officer who shot Babbitt

But he is a gyro. Nancy said so.

Speaking of which, they should be able to sue Nancy too. After all, she was speaker at the time.

Need more of these. I believe two more people died at the hands of Capitol police that day- one on film for the world to see.

Keep dropping these suits

Should be asking for more

A LOT more.

After the Government says they investigated he murder and found it a legit shoot behind closed doors, the family deserves a lot more.

Hey. If Rudy Giuliani was ordered to pay 148 million dollars for legally and rightfully challenging those election workers, the Babbitt family ought to get maybe a billion dollars.

Reading again the description of the moments leading up to her murder reminds me of how outrageous this was. More like an ambush than anything else.

Pelosi should be sued as well for turning down security forces support.

"On the eve of the third anniversary of the Jan. 6 Capitol riot..."

It was not a riot. Honest people must not parrot the propaganda.

"“The only homicide on January 6 was the unlawful shooting death of Ashli Babbitt."

Wasn't that the only violence?

And the capitol police were under her jurisdiction so she should be sued as well and hopefully hit with a $148 million judgement like Rudy.

“Her homicide by Lt. [Michael] Byrd is a scandal beyond belief.”

All he had to do was fire a warning shot but no.

We witnessed a cold hearted murder and a media and government who thinks that’s OK.

When we will hearing be how too cool it is to say “Siege Heil”

I was there.

The few thousand people who made it to the Capitol, arriving before President Trump finished his speech, engaged in a relatively mild riot.

I have been in a fair number of riots and demonstrations over the years, from Arizona to Wisconsin to Panama.

It was a riot, but a mild one, and clearly *not* an "insurrection".

I suspect a significant number of agent provocateurs, but overall coordination was poor.

I was covering it for AmmoLand.

Preparation to keep demonstrators out of the Capitol was poorly thought out.

Were the demonstrators invited into the Capitol building? Were they well behaved once inside?

Its out of Judicial Watch’s wheelhouse. They better have a real personal injury law firm partnering.

I’m sure this was filed as a formality because the two-hear statute of limitations for a wrongful death claim in civil court is going to expire tomorrow.

Were the demonstrators invited into the Capitol building?

Some of them were, a significant number, once the doors of the Capitol were opened.

Were they well behaved once inside?

Most of those who went inside were well behaved, it appears. Very few went inside the Capitol.

A couple of windows were broken.

The doors were opened from the inside by protestors who entered from the side of the Capitol facing the White House, where construction was taking place.

I never went inside the Capitol.

Some of the police behaved badly. Some of the protestors pushed pretty hard against the police.

Compared to the number of protestors at the rally (roughly half a million), only a few hundred entered the Capitol. (I do not have exact numbers, this is my guesstimate).
