Russia has yet to comment on a swirl of unconfirmed rumours that Vladimir Putin's top war commander General Valery Gerasimov was killed in a strike on a military command post in Crimea on Thursday.
An explosion and a trail of smoke were visible in a clip of a suspected Storm Shadow strike at the military site in Yukharin Balka. Another target in the village of Uyutnoye, near Yevpatoria was also reportedly hit.
A flow of ambulances was reported by Ukrainian sources at both locations, and Putin-appointed Sevastopol governor Mikhail Razvozhayev said: 'It was the most massive [attack] in recent times.'
Gerasimov has not been seen since December 29 when footage showed him presenting awards to 'military personnel who distinguished themselves during the liberation of Marinka' in occupied Donetsk region, Ukraine.

Putin needs to take Odessa and cut Ukraine off from the Black Sea entirely for this.

Putin is “resting” in his Valdai deep freezer right now propped up next to the frozen sturgeon.

Israel and most NATO militaries have the software technologies and alogarithims that if they have the voiceprint of a specific person, they can pinpoint his or her location if they speak into a non encrypted radio device or a cell phone. Then ordanance can be brought down on them. Apparently Soliamani was located and killed in this manner as were the Iranian QUD leaders at a Damascus airport terminal. Apparently Ukraine now has this technology and is using it.

Ukraine has been claiming that they've killed Gerasimov since at least March...
of 2022. Until there's an actual body (or until the Russians actually admit it officially), why should anyone believe this current report given the prior track record?

It’s a Russian Wagner Group affiliated source, not Ukrainian.

The Daily Mail verbiage is interesting as Will Stewart "wiggles" after the breathless headline.
One reads:
The rumour of Gerasimov's death appears to have begun circulating after a Russian Telegram channel called 'Ordinary Tsarism' posted an unconfirmed report. It read: 'According to preliminary data, Valery Gerasimov, who was in a command post near Sevastopol at the time of the attack, was killed in the attack on Crimea.'
The message then disappeared, with the channel giving no evidence for the claim.
Exciting stuff, eh?
All of my best military intelligence "disappears" with subsequent :no evidence for the claim."
Since this is war between two non-NATO nations -- "officially" -- one would expect losses on both sides. The true measure of the outcome of the war will be when it ends, how it ends and as it ends.
Until then, hogwash is spelled out in Ukrainian, Russian and English.... Mostly English interestingly.
This is because, in parallel with a real war, there is an ongoing information war, propaganda salvos fired in response to propaganda salvo. Believe them all? A better stance is to believe none, and wait for the eventual end.

Ask Scott Ritter why he walks funny after his prison release. Why the strange waddle in his video with Kadyrov today?

There are a number of “ Russian” TG channels run as Uke propaganda, or simply as trolls.

I agree in general that there are trolls for Russia and trolls for Ukraine, aplenty. Might I also suggest there are trolls for the Biden-Obama-Nuland consortium?
After years of media manipulation on all sorts of things, the notion of an information war speaks more loudly than once it did. Skepticism in all things is warranted.
Best wishes.

Putin needs to take Odessa and cut Ukraine off from the Black Sea entirely for this.Geography makes this unlikely: there are too many north-south rivers east of Odessa. Plus they can barely advance 200 meters in Aavdivka, and Ukraine counterattacks and makes similar gains elsewhere. Putin is running through his reserves and equipment.
