Furious Putin shows his rage at Russia's failing war effort as he demotes 'General Armageddon' overseeing invasion

And publicly humiliates hapless deputy PM for 'fooling around' Sergei Surovikin was demoted yesterday after just three months in command

He was replaced by his heavily criticised understudy Gen. Valery Gerasimov An enraged Putin also publicly humiliated one of his deputy prime ministers Denis Manturov was blasted for failing to procure military and civilian planes

During his short time overseeing the troops in Ukraine, Surovikin was credited with strengthening coordination, reinforcing control and introducing a campaign to knock out the invaded country's public utilities as a pressure tactic.

But he also announced a humiliating withdrawal in November from Kherson, the only regional center Russian forces had captured, just weeks after the Kremlin illegally annexed the area - likely one of the failures that led to his demotion.

Britain's Ministry of Defence (MoD) said promoting Gerasimov above Surovikin is 'an indicator of the increasing seriousness of the situation Russia is facing, and a clear acknowledgement that the campaign is falling short of Russia's strategic goals.' Vladimir Putin ordered yet another shake-up of his war cabinet yesterday, demoting the head of his forces in Ukraine after only three months on the job.

General Sergei Surovikin, who earned the fearsome nickname 'General Armageddon' for employing brutal tactics during Russia's intervention in Syria, was named as Russia's overall military commander on October 8.

Putin yesterday replaced Surovikin with General Valery Gerasimov, Russia's chief of the general staff who was seen by many as the top architect of the invasion. But critics have already blamed him for Moscow's military setbacks.

He also humiliated one of his deputy prime ministers on a video conference call, blasting the official for failing to procure civilian and military planes and accusing him of 'fooling around'.

Putin is having conniption fits and might stroke out. Then he will be forcibly exiled to his Sochi compound, and someone will replace him. In a Coup d’état.

General Sergei Surovikin was the butcher of Syria. But he flamed out in Ukraine.

Yeah, and Chief of Staff Gerasimov got demoted too, and has been sent to take over after being MIA ever since that strike on his command post last July with HIMARS. It’s now his mess.

What steaming pile of horse sh#t.

Hear you neocon dim wit, Let former CIA analyst Larry Johnson explain what's going on to you:

https://sonar21.com/in-ukraine-theres-something-happening-there/

Chief of General Staff General of the Army Valery Gerasimov was named the commander of the Joint Group of Forces and Sergei Surovikin named Commander-in-Chief of Aerospace Forces General of the Army. This was not a command shake up because of unhappiness with Surovikin’s performance over the last three months. Just the opposite — I believe it signals that Russia is setting the table for a major escalation in its operations to eliminate the Ukrainian military threat.

Letting Surovikin focus on the “Aerospace Forces” means that Russian air and space operations are likely to kick into overdrive. Until now, the Russian Air Force has played a minimal role in the battles during the last 11 months. Putting Gerasimov in charge of the Joint Group of Forces is a clear signal that the command task going forward is going to be more complex and comprehensive.

the Putin puffers on FR

Is that any way to label your fellow Freepers? How about we treat each other with respect?

I wish everyone here on both sides of this issue would keep their emotions in check.

I’ve been called too many names by those people to be worried about their feelings.

It’s not about feelings; that’s my point.

It’s about treating other people with decency, even if they decide to be jerks.

I thought the Ukrainian military was finished?

Ukraine has a defacto NATO military now and there is nothing tantruming Putinists can do about it. The sooner they accept that reality the better for all involved. Or they can stay in the alternative reality fantasy. Then thousands more Russians zombie serfs and paroled prisoner slaves will die for nothing.

Larry Johson, March 21,2022:

“The Ukrainian Army Has Been Defeated. What’s Left Is Mop-Up”

Larry Johnson, 1/12/2023:
“I believe it signals that Russia is setting the table for a major escalation in its operations to eliminate the Ukrainian military threat.”

Methinks the steaming horse manure is from Larry Johnson.

At least I don’t use profanity like they do pretty much every day.

That’s the best I can do here.

It is. It's NATO Russia is fighting. Most trained Ukrainian military are long gone, conscripts remain and will be tossed into the fire. But the Ukraine proxy war is critical to NATO aspirations so they continue to fight, with greater and greater involvement of both soldiers and hardware.
