Beer sales in the US are expected to plunge to their lowest level since 1999 — largely due to Bud Light’s massive falloff after its disastrous tie-up with transgender influencer Dylan Mulvaney, industry experts said.
Sales declined by more than 5% in the first nine months of the year, dragged down not only by the backlash and boycotts against Anheuser-Busch-owned Bud Light but the changing habits of younger drinkers, according to Beer Marketer’s Insights.
Bud Light sales have steadily declined each month by 25% to 30% since Mulvaney’s now-infamous posts touting the brand on April 1, according to industry data.

No beer is drinkable. I used it for one purpose only. Get drunk.
I wish someone would produce actual sales and returns/refunds for unsold product. There is no way it would have dropped that much each month. 9 months of 25% less sales than the previous month would be a 92% total drop. (0.75 ^ 9 = 0.075). On the other hand it's been quoted at that amount since the beginning, so it could have been an initial 25% drop followed by flat sales. Throw on top of that long term contracts to bars and stores where the sales remain the same but the losses are counted on higher returns which aren't reported in the press.
I run into more and more people who take marijuana "edibles" instead of drinking beer.
I also smell weed in late afternoons on people who previously would have been in a bar after work, before marijuana was legalized in so many places.
“...largely due to Bud Light’s massive falloff after its disastrous tie-up with transgender influencer Dylan Mulvaney,..”
That’s not the reason! Give me a break. You mean to tell me that they quit drinking beer, period, because of that transvestite? I’d say it’s more like the wussification of young males. There’s a million different beers out there for godsake! If you are a red blooded American beer drinker you’ll find something better than near water 4.2 Bud Light.
“Why did we need Prohibition, when we could have just had a few Dylan Mulvaneys?”
...best point of the day!

Its monthly sales compared to monthly sales one year ago will show a declined until April of 2024 at which time it will either be basically flat or slightly increase compared to one year ago. I suspect April 2024 will show an increase as it was probably their worst month of the last 9 months and some drinkers have gone back to drinking Budlight.
As to its relation to over all beer sales, Budlight was a significant part of the market and beer marketers are saying these folks did not switch to other beers, but drank something else. That is the real issue for beer sellers if they are not producing the product that beer drinkers have migrated to. Boston Beer Company that makes Same Adams also makes:
Twisted Tea - Hard Ice Tea
Angry Orchard - Hard Cider
Dogfish Head Vodka Lemonade Cocktail
Truly Hard Seltzer - Wild Berry
They also owned two local breweries in the two largest markets in America
Angel City, California, culture, and craft in the Art District of LA
Coney Island, An iconic New York boardwalk with an iconic New York Brew
They understand that you cannot live by beer alone.
A nasty product (Bud Lite)..
Marketed by an equally nasty spokesthing.
No doubt this has something to do with an overall industry wide drop in sales.. But really?
It’s Joe Six-Pack.
During Trump, his new-found wealth allowed a little extravagance. Joe Six-Pack could afford a grill, a steak, and a frosty brew.
Now he can’t afford a trip to the grocery store unless he is on SNAP or whatever.
Trust me on this, folks.
The Yuengling family seems to get by ok.
So 0.75^9 = 0.075.
Losing 94% of your sales in nine months is a real bad.
(yeah, yeah, I know. I'm just poking fun at the writer's ability to construct coherent English sentences)
I love helping them some!
Same idea as taking away everyones guns and just let the bad guys have them.
Women have a unique way of solving problems.
And then there's abortion...again...womewn have a unique solution...just kill the baby,
Dildo Mulvaney. The “historic” first tranny RAT suffragette.
Big Bud light family fans here. (Landshark esp). local Warped Wing Brewery, Dayton Ohio, “Fly Light” is now our choice of beers
Exactly. I've been saying for some time now that it's not a 'boycott', it is a wildly successful rebranding of the product. Unfortunately for the company, normal people aren't interested in the new brand image.
Glad people have found. Alife beyond the bottle
Like everything else, the price of beer has gone up. Why pay more for piss water.
What is the actual beer consumption excluding Bud Light from the equation. All those beer drinkers didn’t just quit drinking beer. They went someplace else, so there are other brands out there that are now thriving through the detriment of Anheuser-Busch and Bud Light.
Great to hear. I will sleep better tonight knowing this.
Gen Z isn’t drinking beer.
