Crossman AK1 Air Rifle
Week71 | Vanity

Posted on 12/05/2023 2:36:18 PM PST by week 71

I have my firearms for the range - sport shooting/hunting and I wanted something to plink cans in my back yard (live in the burbs). I purchased a Crossman AK1 fully automatic/semi automatic BB gun, lol - looked like fun. Waiting for CO2 and have not fired it yet.

Any FReepers have a review for this air gun?

We have a Gamo Varminter. Its like a .22 with the raptor promote but only a single shot. The Crossman sounds interesting.

I wear eye protection shooting projectiles, so should be alright.

I purchased a Ruger pellet rifle. I have a terrible squirrel problem. Every two years I wind up having to take em all out. Once the area is clear, it takes two years for new population to move in.

Chewed electric wires in walls and outside. Fruit tree crops ruined. Tomatoes ruined. Walls filled with acorns, pecans, and pine cones.

The Ruger is accurate to about 75 feet. Tinned steel pellets. My only regret is that it's center breach break to load each pellet. If you missed on your first shot, you won't get a chance for a second.

Yeah, the fully automatic AK1 BB gun made me smile. Probably would waste a lot of CO2 if kept in on full auto all the time.

May use this for squirls as well. Though I think the range for accuracy on the crossman would be more like 40 feet. Really all I need.

When I was a youngster I had a Crosman 760... Loved it! It was from maybe 1985.

I have owned a few, and my kids have ‘em, too now.

“Crosman.”

I am not as fond of today’s quality... Or accuracy...

They’re not so much fun as they were.

But maybe it is just that my air rifle is gone, those dreams are gone,

our old farm was sold long ago

and I am not so fond of my own quality or accuracy

and nothing is as much fun as it was.

I keep a couple small BB guns around to teach the grandchildren gun safety and murder a few empty water bottles.

Nope. Due to accuracy issues, I have since evolved from break barrel pellet rifles to PCP's......

Costly, yes, but now I wouldn't have any other air rifle....

See my home page for my current favorite.

I purchased several Umarex CO2 pistols to match several pistols I already own for plinking. They are replicas that have similar weight and feel of the original. Much cheaper to shoot and a lot of fun.

Walmart sells the CO2 cartridges cheaper than anywhere else.

Most people would be amazed at what is available in air guns.

That's too bad.

As I stagger further and further into my golden years (!) I make it a point to find pleasure in life where I still can. Sharing outdoor activities with young people who would otherwise be living virtual lives is one of my pleasures. I recently taught my older grandsons how to snorkel and how to body surf. We also go kayaking occasionally. I know the day will come when I can no longer do those things, but I am not rushing to meet that day.

Well reading your post reminds me of my house. I have had squirrels do all of what you mentioned as well as eating the wiring out of 3 different vehicles as well as a trailer. I’ve killed about 40 squirrels in the last two years. I have about another 10 or so to shoot.

Just be careful. You didn’t mention where in the ‘burbs you live, but some neighbors (and regulations) might object.

Also, adding orange to it somewhere might keep you from mistakenly getting shot by police.

Have fun!😉👍

I like that Crosman stayed authentic with the safety/selector Operation - the AK1 is a lot like the airsoft replicas in that regard. Looks like it has more velocity and accuracy than my M-19A Annihilator ever did. :-)

I had the Benjamin 342? It was a .22 caliber. 5 pumps was sufficient for a head shot on a cotton tail. I was a great rifle until my brother-in-law destroyed the pump. I would have another in a heart beat. Excellent rabbit rifle. More than adequate to reduce the squirrel population. My neighbor feeds the squirrels. That's fine until I have fruit on my trees. The squirrels take all of my plums, apricots and cherries.
