Oregon’s first-in-the-nation law that decriminalized the possession of small amounts of heroin, cocaine and other illicit drugs in favor of an emphasis on addiction treatment is facing strong headwinds in the progressive state after an explosion of public drug use fueled by the proliferation of fentanyl and a surge in deaths from opioids, including those of children.
“The inability for people to live their day-to-day life without encountering open-air drug use is so pressing on urban folks’ minds,” said John Horvick, vice president of polling firm DHM Research. “That has very much changed people’s perspective about what they think Measure 110 is.”
When the law was approved by 58% of Oregon voters three years ago, supporters championed Measure 110 as a revolutionary approach that would transform addiction by minimizing penalties for drug use and investing instead in recovery.
But even top Democratic lawmakers who backed the law, which will likely dominate the upcoming legislative session, say they’re now open to revisiting it after the biggest increase in synthetic opioid deaths among states that have reported their numbers. …

Well it was an interesting experiment but it didn’t seem to work so I guess it’s time switch it up. Hopefully other states learn from their mistakes.
Clamping down on pill press production should stop it, according to the Biden/Harris administration.
Sadly, repealing the law will do little or nothing to fix the underlying problem that made the law a “good idea” in the first place. As long as progressive voters would rather treat symptoms instead of solving problems, the “solution” will probably involve more government spending and no solution.
If it’s a blue state, they are unlikely to learn anything and instead they will double down.
There is no problem here. There is just a little in my desk. The rest is in my blood stream and my supplier is just down the street. How can anyone see a problem here?
Legalization didn’t work in China, won’t work here. As an Oregonian myself, I don’t expect to see the law reversed. The pushback is coming from Republicans. The Democrats just flew to Denmark to see if they could find a way to make continued legalization work. Who knows, maybe the cartels are feeding payoffs to the Dems.

Guess we know now what state the Cartels bought first.
And it was on a ballot measure, supposedly the majority of voters voted for it. But since illegals can get DL and voter registration, and OR is notorious for cheating, all mail in ballots, who knows what the vote really was.
Same thing for the Governor, the conservative candidate was way above in polls. But no, we got another commie sex pervert.
Voters thinking “It’s just pot” and the dealers are delivering white marching powder and fentanyl. They deserve what they voted for.
