A biologically male “transgender female” athlete has removed the championship title from a 14-time female fencing champ at the 2023 FIE Veteran Fencing World Championships.
American Liz Kocab beat 14-time champion Marja-Liisa Someroja of Finland in the Women’s Epee in Florida on Oct. 15, Fox News reported.
“I wanted to support USA Fencing,” Kocab said after the win. “I really did. Otherwise, I was actually thinking of stepping away. But the fact that it was in America, I thought that was important to support the USA. This is my way of saying thanks to USA Fencing.”
Sunday marks the eighth time the six-foot-tall, 71-year-old Kocab has taken a women’s title.
USA Fencing updated its policy for trans competitors in 2022 and threw open all its women’s categories to men claiming to be transgender females without exception.
The organization ruled that transgender athletes may “participate in USA Fencing-sanctioned events in a manner consistent with their gender identity/expression, regardless of the gender associated with the sex they were assigned at birth.”
USA Fencing added that the policy was an “important first step” in “fairness for all.”

I wonder how good the dude was when he had to fence against other dudes.
EC
This is confusing, he is 71 and she is 77?
I think some of us don’t know what kind of event this is, or anything about fencing.
Turns out the lady he defeated was in her 60s. It was a tournament for seniors apparently.
Kocab was a member of his college fencing team back in the early 1970s according to a blurb I saw.
I once heard of a device fitting the epee’ called the ‘Col de mort’.
Just might do her well to find it, maybe?
He was pretty good.
“Kocab is a former standout fencer for the Titans who was an All-American and part of the 1972 NCAA National Championship team. The Titan Hall of Famer went 38-6 in the epee for the Titans in 1972 and boasted a 39-3 record the following year, placing fifth in the nation in the epee to earn All-American honors.”
That’s it, these guys can’t compete against their own sex so they jet their ego trips by quashing women....................
I’ll say it AGAIN!
This is EASY to fix. Athletes must REFUSE to participate in these events.
If the REAL women refused to participate, THERE WOULD BE NO EVENT!
STAND UP FOR YOURSELVES! Problem solved.
I’m re-thinking this. On some level, I think unisex competitions are more fair. Let men and women and every other form of dingbat compete in the same arena. Maybe weight classes for some sports like boxing and wrestling. but give them what they want - equality.
No woman has the stamina of a man...all other things aside

Why can’t EVERYONE see that this is just NUTS!
>placing fifth in the nation in the epee to earn All-American honors.”<
That’s not a bad accomplishment, to finish fifth in Nationals, but it pales in comparison to a World Title.
William Thomas was an okay mens’ college swimmer. He was a superb womens’ college swimmer....but I understand he never finished beyond his sophomore year, and Lia didn’t start college until his junior year.

lol.............
Insane.
Another female sports championship in the hands of men. I’m waiting for a couple guys to pull a “Blades of Glory” and take their figure skating championships.

That shows the superiority of women, a mediocre male, meandering through life, but once he becomes a woman she becomes world-class.
This American thanks you. No, I do not. Vainglorious pr---.
