Weed Makes You Crazy and Gives You Heart Disease. Why’s It Legal?
New York Post ^ | Sep. 29, 2023

The evidence for keeping weed illegal keeps mounting — even as the laws get looser. A new, peer-reviewed study (on a significant data set of nearly 60,000 Canadians) has shown that adults who misuse pot have a 60% higher risk of experiencing their first heart attack, stroke, or other major cardiovascular event.

In other words: Weed’s not a harmless vice. It’s a killer, like cigarettes. And unlike cigarettes, it literally drives people insane.

A massive Danish study based on nearly 7 million health records drew a strong correlation between heavy cannabis use and increased risk of schizophrenia in young men.

That’s to say nothing of the fact that pot, no matter what its advocates claim, likely serves as a gateway drug: Evidence suggests a link between cannabis use in kids and later opioid use, and the drug can play a role in rewiring the reward circuitry in young brains.

“Now the government encourages people to take it.”

What form(s) does this alleged “ encouragement” take?

It’s good for what ails you. The news is depressing with inflation, economy, dead head POTUS and on the brink of nuclear war. I don’t care for the stuff but it makes me want to give it another try.

Correlation does not prove causation. Scare headline.

True but correlations are used to support or disprove theories that provide the causality. The finding might be oversold but it does have some value.

re: LMAO DEPOPULATION AGENDA

Consider the first 6 goals of the New World Order (from “The Committee of 300” 1992):

1. A one world government with a unified religion and monetary system.
2. The destruction of all national pride and identity.
3. The elimination of all religion except for one under their direction.
4. Control every individual through technocracy.
5. End all industrialization and energy production for a “zero growth society” creating masses of unemployed alcoholics and drug addicts.
6. Legalization of drugs and pornography.

I voted against Amendment 20 in Colorado 2000. I’m not LMAO.

Gack!! Oven-dried leaf.

The genetics of the plant is a factor. In the fine tradition of the American can-do spirit, even hippies were experimenting with selection for potency. Europe wasn’t as hampered by illegalites. Weed has been selectively bred for a lot of different characteristics...yield, variations in photoperiodicity to match plants to the latitude they’re grown at, appearance, characteristics that make them suitable tor indoor growing. Horticulturists love that stuff.

One thing about alcohol is there’s no 2nd hand exposure unlike pot which seems ubiquitous in the ATL metro area despite illegality for recreational use. It’s bad enough if someone says they smoke you know they mean pot.

Smoking anything is going to cause lung damage. Even just routinely cooking over fires does the same.

Nicotine is fiercely addictive. The gubmint collected their tax money even from people that wanted to quit.

It’s legal because it gives you heart disease, which can kill you. It just wasn’t killing the citizens fast enough. Enter Covid — which also wasn’t killing fast enough. Then ... taDA! vaxes.

Long apparent to me, mj freezes emotional age. Prematurely mature young people lead mostly normal lives, but immature users never grow up. That’s why retirement agers have little ill effects if they weren’t dopers when young. Everything has its uses.

What can I say, I was young and had little patience. :)

I've had good luck with common modern photoperiod strains, and good luck with autoflowers. Lately, electricity in my area is just too expensive to compete with the dispensaries.
