The evidence for keeping weed illegal keeps mounting — even as the laws get looser. A new, peer-reviewed study (on a significant data set of nearly 60,000 Canadians) has shown that adults who misuse pot have a 60% higher risk of experiencing their first heart attack, stroke, or other major cardiovascular event.
In other words: Weed’s not a harmless vice. It’s a killer, like cigarettes. And unlike cigarettes, it literally drives people insane.
A massive Danish study based on nearly 7 million health records drew a strong correlation between heavy cannabis use and increased risk of schizophrenia in young men.
That’s to say nothing of the fact that pot, no matter what its advocates claim, likely serves as a gateway drug: Evidence suggests a link between cannabis use in kids and later opioid use, and the drug can play a role in rewiring the reward circuitry in young brains.

Well, Pavlov need not be jealous, IMHO.
Alcohol, tobacco, sugar, white flour, processed seed oils and more are all dangerous. I’m 73 years-old. I don’t smoke anything but, if you’ve tried being this old here’s what you’ve discovered. Lots of things hurt and it’s really hard sometimes to get sleep. It’s 4:22 AM right now and I’ve been awake for an hour. 2-3 times a month I eat a cannabis gummy at bedtime and sleep a solid six hours, pain free. I’ve never taken one during the day. I only use it to sleep.
My body, my choice.
In watching real, live, court proceedings, it is amazing how many criminals of all kinds admit to using MJ.
If you were tested right now, what would we find in your system?
THC, weed,
Could there be a “connection”? /s
Me too, I had a helluva lot harder time quitting alcohol and tobacco than I ever did weed.
I was referring to the demonization of tobacco. They likely won’t demonize weed because it may be useful in keeping dull and tractable.
My wife and I did 30/day for 2 days. Average about 8 mph. Nothing strenuous. Beautiful ride on the New River State park trail.
Re Post 35 (Reefer Madness link): My wife says they showed that film in her health class, where it was greeted with great laughter.
Because we’re free to make bad choices. Or at least we should be. Now I’m gonna go get a soda and a sugary cereal. Hurray for bad choices.
When I was in high school the potheads passed around Reefer Madness and those other “morality” “anti-drug” movies. That entire of genre was invented to get around the Hays code. When you put a “strong moral message” into movies you could also put titties in them, so long as it was showing how these “bad things” led to “moral depravity”.
Behavioral Psychology is the basis for all scientific psychology. Typical that someone doesn’t want to give Pavlov credit, as that has been the case all along. It was the first time scientific method had been applied to psychology, and now we use it all the time without even thinking about it.
It became one of those “of course” things: We decided we knew it all along, but we didn’t. In fact there was a lot of controversy about applying scientific method to human behavior
Here’s why: From the American Cancer Society: “More recently, scientists reported that THC and other cannabinoids such as CBD slow growth and/or cause death in certain types of cancer cells growing in lab dishes. Some animal studies also suggest certain cannabinoids may slow growth and reduce spread of some forms of cancer.” Aug 3, 2022
They’ve never been able to show that smoking cannabis causes cancer. In fact, the opposite may be true.
I’ve never watched that whole movie, it’s so stupid, although I am against legalizing marijuana because it does not let kids properly concentrate on college classes so they can be able to graduate and make a living and I think it’s bad for your lungs and I guess now they have discovered the heart also.
But the movie claims are ridiculous and I did not know they have stuff like that in it.
Oh yeah. It was a crazy industry. Back in the day I put a whole bunch of them in my Netflix queue, cause they’re hilarious. One of them, I think it was Cocaine Satan’s Powder, had commentary track from a guy who worked the circuit. He talked about how they rent the movie and posters from the company and then drive town to town showing it. Sometimes in cinemas, sometimes in tents a la revival preachers. And the companies who give you instructions on which reels in include in different builds depending on the time of the showing and the target audience. So there’d be “clean” versions you show for matinees with kids in the audience. There’d also be the late night “men only” build (”horrors too shocking for women” ie nudity), which were the real money making showings. A fascinating odd time in American cinema, mostly lost to history because these prints weren’t really taken care of. Nobody knew they were making history, they were just looking for cash. One of the best commentary tracks I ever listened to.
Wonder what causes more riots alcohol or weed.
Or how many hold up by winos or stoners.

Weed Makes You Crazy and Gives You Heart Disease. Why’s It Legal?
It should please our lawmakers as ignorant and dumb constitutes are more easily influenced and controlled. Having weed freely available is just as dumb and ignorant as leaving borders pretty well unprotected, just to mention one of many questionable things.
I never found them funny I just found them stupid. I never laughed once watching the small parts I saw of the movie, but it bored me and I didn’t watch on.
I do think it led to moral depravity. Whenever you are on a substance it changed the thinking, lets your guard down, on young kids it’s a bad idea for so many reasons. Personally I’d like the Hays code brought back to some degree. The guys who make movies are a lot of them just degenerates. I just read how Sue Lyon was under 16 when she made Lolita and the producer had an affair with her, 18 years her senior and married of course. The casting couch is real.
Sounds pleasant and relaxing. I assume you camped between days?

Hippie!
People who break the law, break the law.
