This is an ongoing thread – meaning come back to chat, post information, or ask questions any time. Hopefully the thread won’t stagnate and I’ll do better at posting weekly (or bi-weekly) topics than I have in the past. (anyone willing to post a topic now and then we'll be highly praised and appreciated).
We are in for some bumpy rides, and prepping can only help. If for peace of mind, if nothing else. We have a wonderful gardening thread and a current-events survival/prepping thread, and hopefully this one can piggyback off of those, maybe having a longer discussion about certain topics or … whatever. It's your thread, do what you like with it! (civilly, of course)
Here are granny’s threads, if anyone wants to peruse them:

Actually, I only had to do 24. There are around 100 people, maybe a few less. I may throw in another couple if I feel like it, but 24 pies times 8 pieces each should be fine. Six each of pecan, pumpkin, apple and cheesecake. I just have to make the toppings for the cheesecake - a container each of fresh crushed pineapple, maple pecan sauce, and dark cherry sauce.
Natalie made creme brule for dessert tonight. Yum.
How did you get all the appropriate little markings on creme brulee? Ah, never mind. I can’t be bothered lol. My naked French dessert words will have to do.
My naked French dessert words will have to do.
LOL!!
Well, as long as they’re nothing like that naked Fetterman airport imposter, you’re fine 😂
(Not sure how I got them....I guess my mac parle français!)
“maple pecan sauce, and dark cherry sauce.”
Those sounds so good! So does creme brulee. How in the world does Natalie have time to do all that on top of taking care of the farm! Are you having creme brulee in the morning for breakfast? I totally approve of your having cake for breakfast, that’s what I would do if I ate breakfast. Actually if I could have dessert for breakfast I might start
My favorite breakfast is pumpkin pie and coffee.
Check this out. It seems Ron DeSantis kicked Tucker Carlson’s dog when he and Casey visited them for lunch, at the coaxing of FOX. Lol it could be fake news, I don’t know anything about the site or the writer. Just thought it was funny.
I had to fight Proby off because I was eating watermelon awhile ago. Then a light went off in my head, watermelon soup for proby!
Your cat eats watermelon? I have never seen a cat eat watermelon. That is so funny. Does she spit out the seeds at you as well?
Lol, it’s seedless. I saw a video the other day about things that are poison to cats and melon seeds are one of them. He likes catelope too. I tried giving him salad shrimp and he won’t have anything to do with it. He will eat a little ham.
I had a cat once that loved ranch flavored corn nuts.
That is so weird. A cantaloupe eating cat. But not shrimp. What is this world coming to?!
😹
CB, didn’t you post a picture of a cat eating watermelon and had red lips?
Freeze dried also lasts for 20+ years
You guys chatting away and nobody thinks about JudyinCanada just because I am catless.
You can have these if you promise to keep them!
Ha! Thanks - they’re adorable, but....
As tempting as they are, I will remain pet-free. I have the perfect setup here. I can enjoy 2 dogs, a cat, and various other critters WITHOUT any responsibility! Someone else feeds, pays the vet bills, lets them out, locks them up, and I get to scratch and pat and talk to them when I want lol....like grandchildren! Oh wait, I don’t scratch and pat my grands lol. I just enjoy them without much responsibility is what I meant.
Lolo that made me laugh.
That’s a great idea! And you can do the same thing with cantaloupe.
Yeah I did, I’ll go find that picture. And then we need to see what Proby looks like after his soup.
I can certainly try.
Is there a research college in your area? If so, see what they do with the old equipment whenever they upgrade. Some of them sell it. The local university nearest me has freeze-dryers 2-3 times a year up for sale.
