Bud Light, which has been displaced as the nation’s top-selling beer following the Dylan Mulvaney fiasco, is in danger of falling farther behind its rivals when retailers reset shelf space this fall.
Wholesalers, industry experts, and a former Anheuser-Busch executive told ABC News on Friday that Bud Light could lose refrigerator space at retailers such as Walmart and 7-Eleven.
“During a busy shopping period on a Friday or Saturday night, if you don’t have the beer available cold on the shelf, consumers pick something else,” former Anheuser-Busch InBev executive Anson Frericks told ABC News.
Frericks said that shelf space is “the single largest determinant of sales in a store.”

Supply and demand. What a complex phenomenon?
AB needs to be the next Schlitz.
We’ll see, the CEO of Walmart is a lib and we know how important the cause is
You mean they have not already lost it to Modelo Especial?
when the Bud contracts expire...
I just think they're going to ride this out because consumers can only drink so much high-end beers. A lot of people drink Busch Light and Bud Light for their walking around drinking.
“Could”!?
We simply need to destroy these woke companies.
Would the stores be willing to put up some space for Christmas items?
At our local bar, they USED to have BL on tap, and three rows of those 16 cans that look like blue bottles in the cooler.
Now they have ONE row in the cooler, and the BL tap has been displaced by 805.
One of the bartenders told me she hasn’t sold a BL in weeks.
I LOVE a story with a happy ending.
Here’s hoping!
“We’ll see, the CEO of Walmart is a lib and we know how important the cause is”
We’ll see if money talks loud enough for Walmart to choose money over the cause.
Maybe AB-Inbev will offer enough marketing money to make up for the lost store sales. I wouldn’t put it past them, hoping another year will allow the public to forget about Mulvaney clusterscrew.
That’s it! Whatever relationship I had with the nutty felon league is dead and buried!
Wonder if those horrific cans have become collector items of sorts?
I could see AB offering Walmart an “incentive” but it may not be necessary. The CEO tossed the entire My Pillow line despite strong sales.
Sometimes you just have to stand your ground. I don’t think Bud Light ever did make a formal apology and much effort to retract their PUSHING the agenda.
I still see it stocked everywhere I shop. It hasn’t gone away so I don’t know where the damage is being done at the retail level. Maybe just on Wall Street?
“Frericks said that shelf space is ‘the single largest determinant of sales in a store.’”
True. 18 years in Retail Management. You put the inexpensive products (that is not the LEAST bit inferior in QUALITY) on the bottom shelves.
Companies pay TOP DOLLAR to have their product at eye-level or on an aisle end cap.
Been there, done that. Bud Light is done as a ‘brand.’
Dumb@sses. I’ll NEVER understand this catering to the 1.000% of the market and alienating your prime CASH IN HAND Customers!
