The New York Times and Washington Post both published opinion pieces Wednesday branding 80-year-old President Joe Biden as too old to run for re-election in 2024.
It comes as Biden faces an impeachment inquiry and recent polling numbers show most consider the president at too advanced an age to serve again.
Ross Douthat, a conservative op-ed writer for the liberal Times, penned a piece titled '2024's Field of Nightmares,' a reference to the 1989 film Field of Dreams.
He said while his concerns with Biden come down to run-of-the-mill political disagreements during his first term, Democrats are playing with fire in allowing the oldest president in American history to run again.
The two risks of Biden running again, according to Douthat: 'the high stakes of the next election, in which a health crisis or just more slippage might be the thing that puts Trump back in the White House, and the different but also substantial stakes of another four-year term.'
While Douthat argued that similar to Ronald Reagan's second term - which was long-rumored to be served with the president in decline - Biden can 'limp to another victory,' he sees the current political era as telling.
He compared it to liberals praying Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsberg could live long enough to see a Democrat replace her, only to see her die weeks before the election, with Trump able to nominate another justice to the Supreme Court.
'The Trump era has been one of those periods when providence or fate revenges itself more swiftly than usual on hubris - when the longstanding freedom that American parties and leaders have enjoyed, by virtue of our power and pre-eminence, to skate around our weak spots and mistakes has been substantially curtailed,' he said.

It seems significant when liberal media outlets are talking about Joe’s advanced age. They can’t say it’s some unwarranted GOP talking point, not when liberals are saying Joe should not run again.
cue the music
here come michelle puff pieces
bye bye stupid joe
michelle to the rescue
It’s not Biden we should be worried about. It’s all the people who write those thousands and thousands of pages of Executive Orders with his name on them that nobody has ever read.
It’s the unknown million bureaucrats that run all the NGOs and three lettered monstrosities that have driven American industry and the middle class into the ground.
It’s the Communists in all of our Universities....
Yes. Politicians are “The Show”. Even successful Presidents are replaced every eight years.
But there are no term limits on “The Cathedral”, “The Bureau”, and “The Castle”.
Exactly.
Coordinated chatter. Watch out, a new Trump indictment is in the works.
I.E., Angelo Codevilla.
The American problem has nothing to do with personalities, or even, fundamentally, with politics. This all is a cultural-sociological situation, which has many ramifications, just one of them political.
Codevilla’s classic 2010 essay -

You dont have “the Cathedral”.
You have “the situation”.
Codevilla’s seminal essay.

The Cathedral, Bureau and Castle as well as the Show are concepts created by Curtis Marvin to explain the operation of the ruling Regime.

I don’t agree with Yarvin. He has a rather top-down view of societies. The concrete-and-steel world doesn’t work that way, quite.
My model is a mishmash of Paul Johnson “Birth of the Modern”, plus Bernard Anderson “Imagined Communities”, plus some of Gramsci - Yarvin cribbed a lot from Gramsci - and Codevilla puts it all together.
Age is not the issue, criminality and insanity are!
Every time liberals *Predict* something, they are planning it.
You can always know what they want or are up to by what they are predicting will happen.
Codevilla has over 60 mentions of the Democratic and Republican Parties in that essay.
The parties and the elected politicians are the least important and influential part of the Regime.
Don’t believe me ?
Watch as Biden is pushed aside. The important players are not elected politicians publicly stating he should not run. They are waiting for the elite media to announce Biden shouldn’t run. Then the politicians will join that position.
The Cathedral decides when it is time for a player change in The Show.
Biden is not important. Despite being the supposed Head of State, he is clearly not in charge.
The fight over Biden running again is a contest for influence within the Regime. But it is a contest for power by people who are not elected politicians.
David Ignatius had an op-ed in the WashPost yesterday stating Biden and Harris should not run again. Ignatius is the media figure closest to the CIA and the Intel Swamp in all of Washington.
His op-ed is the National Security Swamp view that Biden has to go. But The Castle is the least important and influential group in the Regime.
When the Post and the NYT run editorial board opinions that Biden and Harris should not run, that will be the Cathedral speaking, and that is when it will happen.
Codevilla mentions the parties to disparage them. His point is the opposite to what you think. I suggest a careful read.
if you think this is bad just wait if Bidens polls are still where they are now come spring.
