Aaron Rodgers injury update: MRI reveals Jets QB suffered a complete tear of Achilles tendon...Rodgers' season is over

New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers' 2023 season is over before it ever really got started. After the quarterback was injured on his fourth play of the Jets' opening game, head coach Robert Saleh told reporters following the Jets' 22-16 overtime victory over the Buffalo Bills that they feared that the four-time NFL MVP tore his Achilles tendon. That is what was ultimately discovered following an MRI on Tuesday, CBS Sports NFL Insider Jonathan Jones reports.

"It's not good," Saleh said.

The injury will be season-ending. On the Jets' first drive Monday night, Rodgers was injured and helped off the field by trainers. After a visit to the blue medical tent, he was carted to the locker room. After initially being labeled as questionable to return with an ankle injury, he was later downgraded to out. The Jets announced that his X-rays were negative.

Rodgers suffered the injury after being sacked by veteran pass rusher Leonard Floyd on a first-and-10 with 11:40 remaining in the first quarter. While it appeared at first that Rodgers was OK, he went back down to the turf while officials stopped play.

The white Jake was a real SF agent. He didn’t like being in the limelight like that. Or so I heard.

Yep, but did you know that In Ohio, Canton is where the HS playoffs happen? Not that Rodgers grew up there. Just a piece of trivia.

Another wager...If Arod is done for good I suspect the Jets will try some legal maneuver to get some relief from his massive contract. IMHO

I agree, but paying full freight is for poor people, who can't afford really good attorneys. Arod took one paycut to help the Jets, whos to say he won't take another...

Agree. I liked Rodgers as Jeopardy! host. Appreciated his dry wit. I read a review for all of the temporary Jeopardy! hosts. He wasn’t particularly popular.

agreed.
I watched a little of the game, he doesn’t appear to have an O line, so he wouldn’t have lasted the season anyway.

I always admired Johnny Unitas, but when that trade happened, it was absolutely clear, even before that trade, that Unitas wasn’t going to perform well, and I loved Unitas...he was just pretty much done.

This one, Rogers was still a very capable top quarterback. Too bad for him. I never cared much for him in some respects, but I always thought he was a stellar quarterback.

September football is objectively bad since all teams agreed to let the players phone it in during training camp/per-season games. They are out of shape, have no rhythm, timing is off... it's bad football with lots of injuries and upsets. NFL football only really begins to get decent in late Sept or early October.

I think you'd have to be crazy to bet money on NFL games in September.

LOL, I KNEW Namath wasn’t going to go anywhere...that guy could barely walk.

I didn’t care for him in the day with all the extracurricular stuff, but I will say this: Namath was tough as nails. He took a hit as well as anyone, and that was in the day when those guys were allowed to tee off on quarterbacks for sport.

And his knees. He had the equivalent of Bobby Orr knees.

I am glad he got sober...even though I have poked fun at it, I hated seeing him go down that way as a sideline person in the broadcasts.

He seems happy now.
