New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers' 2023 season is over before it ever really got started. After the quarterback was injured on his fourth play of the Jets' opening game, head coach Robert Saleh told reporters following the Jets' 22-16 overtime victory over the Buffalo Bills that they feared that the four-time NFL MVP tore his Achilles tendon. That is what was ultimately discovered following an MRI on Tuesday, CBS Sports NFL Insider Jonathan Jones reports.
"It's not good," Saleh said.
The injury will be season-ending. On the Jets' first drive Monday night, Rodgers was injured and helped off the field by trainers. After a visit to the blue medical tent, he was carted to the locker room. After initially being labeled as questionable to return with an ankle injury, he was later downgraded to out. The Jets announced that his X-rays were negative.
Rodgers suffered the injury after being sacked by veteran pass rusher Leonard Floyd on a first-and-10 with 11:40 remaining in the first quarter. While it appeared at first that Rodgers was OK, he went back down to the turf while officials stopped play.

Thought I saw on Total Access that part of this trade with GB included clause saying he had to play a certain number of games, or Jets would get some sort of future picks.
So folks can stop raging on the Chief’s for their loss in week 1. Andy Reid said the loss was his fault for not having his team ready. You can bet it was a wake up call for KC to basically say to the players. No you have lost in week 1. You need to get the Superbowl behind you it was last season.
He can sell State Farm Insurance....................
Yeah, can’t really blame the loss on Mahomes.
They got rid of him, just as they got rid of the White Jake.
They misspelled Career
I just like the fact the Lions played far from perfect but still found a way. That’s a good sign.
They are going to murder the Seahawks.
Coming back at 40 from an achilles tear is a tall order.
He’s won a bunch and should retire.
$200 million should last him a while…
Even if he gets healthy, who would want him?
Permanent vacation.
As a lifelong Packer Fan in the Twilight Zone, and a Packer Stockholder, I am just glad we left the drama behind us. The Packers look pretty OK.
You played The Bears!
Next Stop...Canton.
I actually thought Rodgers did a decent job when it was his turn.
It’s not astroturf it’s the new fieldturf. And probably didn’t have anything to do with the injury. Tendons get worn. He hyper extended a little, but nothing that wouldn’t happen on any field.
Some are speculating he may go into politics.
I know, I know, and the Bears still uh vacumn.
Or Subway sammiches.
I don’t think anyone would. I understand it’s hard for guys to walk away, but this could be a sign for him. He could probably do announcing or some coaching if he wanted.
If I had $200 million, zero minutes of my life would involve hyper muscular men trying to hurt me. Maybe I’m crazy.
