The woman charged with drunkenly crashing into a golf cart, killing a just-married South Carolina bride, was visibly upset in court Tuesday as a judge refused to spring her from jail.
Jamie Lee Komoroski, 25, breathed heavily and looked close to tears when she appeared at the proceedings via video.
The New Jersey native was dressed in a striped prison jumpsuit as Circuit Judge Michael Nettles ruled that she will remain in custody while awaiting trial on a slew of charges related to the April 28 wreck that killed Samantha Miller, 34, and left the groom and two others seriously injured.
“[Komoroski] didn’t just kill my child,” Miller’s mother, Lisa, said tearfully during the hearing.
“She killed all of us.”

My understanding of first degree murder is that you killed with intent. My understanding of second degree is intent to harm, but you don’t care if your actions kill somebody.
She had no intent on killing anybody or harming anybody. It was foresseable that it could happen and she didn’t care enough to take precautions against that, so you’re probably right on the criminally negligent homicide.
In South Carolina, killing somebody while being involved in a criminally chargeable offense is considered to be involuntary manslaughter. It’s punishable by up to 5 years in prison.
It’s not manslaughter in South Carolina, because there were no arguements or anything preceeding the crime. There is no connection between victim and accused.
So, I think my guess of about 8 years is around correct.

and it needs to be asked how many people,and freepers,drive or have driven while drunk...it happens millions of times and thru theGrace of God more people aren't killed...cast the first stone.
That’s what the statute says. Your feelings are not a determinate when it comes to sentencing. Based on what I could find, I think she will get about 8 years.
Whatever the statute says, that’s what she will be sentenced. I think the video of her showing zero regard for her victim will play a role in upping the sentence towards the max.
Why don’t they just call a cab
Cops look out for each other. That bonding comes with the job.
The death penalty for DUI manslaughter could give us an ounce of prevention. I would be fine with her being sent to the gallows or firing squad for this. That would be true justice.
I can’t stand when people refer to these events as ‘tragedies’. This idiot made several deliberate decisions, which almost guaranteed this or similar results. It wasn’t something bad that just happened...it was completely predictable AND preventable.
BTW....the idea that this piece of trash is even considered for release on bail is a complete travesty. There is NO question she is completely at fault, and will be found guilty of several felony counts that will land her in prison for many years. Time served can be subtracted from her subsequent sentence.

Apparently it happened in or near a coastal resort. They were driving a gussied up small electric vehicle at night on or around the property. Low power, slow speed but with automobile type lighting is my understanding.
The best solution is cart vehicle lanes where cars are also driving but that get’s expensive.
Seems dangerous. I've never gotten myself into a situation like that. Well, this is a sad story for us. Golf carts and cars do not mix. Golf carts belong on the golf courses and the cars on the roads. No buts. Otherwise, I'll just walk around the property. We have our senses to watch out for the dangers that may lurk on the property.
Imagine how irritated you’ll be once you find out people ride bicycles on roads too.
Talk about suicidal.
