Sales of Bud Light fell yet again over the Fourth of July holiday period as the Anheuser-Busch brand lost more ground to rivals Modelo Especial, Coors Light and Miller Lite.
The latest figures show sales of Bud Light dropping 23.6% in the one-week period ending on July 8 compared to the same period last year, according to Nielsen IQ data provided by Bump Williams Consulting.
Meanwhile, Coors Light saw its sales numbers soar 30.2% while Miller Lite’s sales jumped 25.3% during the week ending July 8.
Sales of Modelo Especial — which is quickly closing in on Bud Light’s two-decade reign as the nation’s top-selling beer — were up 20.7% during that same period.
One bright spot for Bud Light is that its most recent drop in sales was a major improvement over previous weeks, which saw declines of 28.5% and 27.9%, respectively.
However, the Bud Light boycott has continued to infect sister brands within the Anheuser-Busch portfolio, according to the figures, which were reported by the Daily Caller.
Budweiser saw a 6.6% drop in sales in the week ending July 8, the numbers show.
Bud Light and Anheuser-Busch have struggled to win back consumer confidence after an ill-fated advertising partnership with transgender influencer Dylan Mulvaney sparked a backlash.
Mulvaney began promoting the beer to her millions of social media followers in early April — prompting accusations that the brand was supporting a trans agenda.

A friend of ours works for a Bud distributor. He’s a great guy and I feel absolutely awful about what the idiot management of AB has done to his life.

I wonder if they’re still playing with the numbers. If the boycott/dropping of the brand had been increasing, I would have expected the year-to-year drop to exceed 30%. Yet, the numbers remain in the 20s, and this one is less than 25%. Yes, it’s still a bad number, but Americans by and large are idiots. If the year-to-year becomes less than 20%, Bud may start claiming a recovery.
That 23% number is an obvious lie.
You think they don’t want to admit how bad it really is?
The battle is over who has the least shittiest “beer.”
Die Bud, die. I have no sympathy for arrogant idiocy.
If it’s only ~25% year-over-year, I want to know who the heck are the 75% who are still buying it. Do that many Americans actually approve of A-B using that freak for advertising? Or are they just brain-dead?
So they go to a group of male Bud drinkers, and say, “Hey, you know that this dude who wears dresses and pretends he has a p****? He thinks you should drink Bud.”
I’m sorry, but unless someone completely re-wired the average Joe Sixpack, this is a GREAT way to have them never ever drink that beer again. Hell, the reason that most of them never tried “craft” or “offshore” beers is that they thought they’d be wearing sweaters tied around their neck by the next day!
Bye bye Bud!
I wonder if Bud has been running super sales that people just couldn’t pass up on that weekend, it may have knocked off a couple of points from that drop.
It might even be that some stores ran out of some of the competitor’s beer that weekend, leaving Bud as the only choice.
Haw much is from bars and stores which have long term contracts? I heard AB would buy back their vendors’ expired beer. Is that counted in this number or do they count returns separately?
One plus-up....they have signed contracts at sports fields (minor / major league baseball)....where they are the only beer possible. Up to the end of August, they would help them in various ways. Once the season ends....they’d fall back on NBA/NFL contracts in the same manner.

#metoo ...... ????????
“struggled to win back consumer confidence”
“Confidence”? What is the author talking about?
The only confidence I want is to be confident that a company won’t shove perverts, creeps, freaks, homos, trannies, and assorted weirdos down my throat.
🔝🔝🔝
I have noticed a great reduction in blue cans littered along the roadways.
I hope they have to drop the production of this completely.
I stopped buying goose island which is owned by AB and I trust many other AB brands have been hit.
It’s all ‘oss piss, except that Butt Light comes from a homo horse.
