Bud Light Sales Collapse Over July 4th Holiday
Daily Caller ^ | July 17, 2023 10:03 AM ET | JAMES LYNCH, REPORTER

Bud Light sales suffered a major decline over the July 4th holiday weekend as the boycott against the brand continues, industry data shows.

Bud Light sales plunged by 23.6% in the one week period ending July 8th compared to 2022 levels, according to Nielsen IQ dollar sales data provided to the Daily Caller by Bump Williams Consulting. In the four week period ending July 8th, Bud Light sales dropped by 27.1% as the consumer boycott against Bud Light continues.

Budweiser, another Anheuser-Busch brand, saw a 6.6% drop in sales in the week ending July 8th and a 10.7% drop in the four week period ending July 8th, the sales data shows. Rival beer brands Coors Light and Miller Lite had a 30.2% and 25.3% sales increase in the week ending July 8th. Modelo Especial had a 20.7% uptick in sales for the same time period.

The boycott against Bud Light began in early April after transgender influencer Dylan Mulvaney posted advertisements on social media to promote the brand. Mulvaney, a biological male who identifies as a transgender female, was sent customized beer cans by Bud Light to celebrate one year of being transgender.

Conservatives accused Bud Light of promoting transgender ideology by partnering with Mulvaney, who previously interviewed President Joe Biden about his support for transgender procedures for minors.

The Bud Light boycott was intensified by unearthed comments from Bud Light marketing executive Alissa Heinerscheid where she trashed the brand’s “fratty” and “out of touch” image. Heinerscheid and another marketing executive were later fired for the Mulvaney partnership, the Daily Caller first reported.

Anheuser-Busch is trying to win customers back with a summer marketing campaign featuring NFL stars, concerts, giveaways and the “Bud Knight” mascot. The company’s U.S. CEO Brendan Whitworth refused to say in a late June interview whether it was a mistake for Bud Light to partner with Mulvaney.

The transgender influencer accused Anheuser-Busch of abandonment after the Bud Light boycott began. Anheuser-Busch responded to Mulvaney by restating its commitment to the LGBT community.

They will not apologize.

Totally agree.

I think that rather than a boycott a more correct description is “to hell with’em”

However, a 27% drop also means that sales remain at 73% of normal.

It would seem that 73% is still not all that shabby. Perhaps 27% loss is on the low side

Yeah the ship sailed. A immediate real apology may have saved them but the obvious unwillingness to do compounded the insult. BlackRock probably made them whole “for the cause”

Not even a boycott anymore.

beer drinkers just don't give a shiite regards that beer.

I can truthfully say that I never drank a bud lite {or if I did, I was too drunk to know it}.

I never liked any lite beer, no appeal for my tastes.

The wokesters stepped on their crank with old fashioned steel golf spikes, and there is no recovery.

This will go down as one of the worst {shortest} ad campaigns in history.

No one could have imagined the financial devastation that a single ad about a man, pretending to be a woman, could bring to a multi-billion dollar brand {of any product}.

If you are selling a mundane product {lite beer as as mundane as bottled water}, ya should know who buys {bought} it.

Which ad company sold this idea to AB? And where are they today?

~~~
yeah it’s not a boycott.
Like others have said, there is nothing overly special about but light. The kind of people who order it (or buy it) do so out of habit, and would just as easily order a miller light or equivalent.
So they changed their habits.
Aside from all the craft beers and ‘micro brews’, there are dozen of alternative light beers. I have noticed that a lot of people around here have switched to Yuengling or Yeungling light
One of these breweries is going to get smart and start advertising heavily during sports and prime time with patriotic themes and even stuff reminiscent of the ‘frat boy’ stuff of the 90s/2000s and watch their sales rise.
I don’t think they can fix it. They broke it beyond repair. The trust is GONE, like in a bad marriage.
Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me.
Ain’t gonna be fooled again.
There are way too many other choices out there. Choices that are really tasty!
And in other uplifting news, Walt Disney DIS –2.93% stock was nearing a one-year low on Monday morning as the entertainment company’s recent slide continued. Walt Disney stock was down 1.5% to $87.32.
Exactly.
Their customers were not loyal because of taste. They bought it because it was there, and in their price range.
Now it has the stigma attached to it, and they don’t want or need the hassle.................
Just imagine you are CEO of a company.
You have a brand that is the national best-seller.
They you do something stupid and sales drop more than 20%—and stay that way for week after week after week.
Any normal corporation would have fired you so fast you would not have even seen the security guards coming to take you away.
AB is raw evil—their failure to clean house all the way up and down the management chain tells you they are our enemy and could not care less about their business.
Red, the biggest gain from this is not Sam Adams lager or Guinness or even Yuengling. It is Miller Lite.
I’ve noticed lots of ads for Busch Beer.
Also made by AB.
I suspect they are still trying to hide their real reason for making Tranny Beer.
Also, Modello Especial is now the number one selling beer in the USA.
I actually like Modello’s beers. I like the Negro better though.
However, Dos Equis Amber and their other beers are better than anything Modello makes.
It shows how demographics in the USA has changed when the number one selling beer is made in Mexico.
I didn’t know this about Cindy McCain.
We DO know she has been active in Emily’s List since the 80’s.
“In 2000, she became chair of the now $300 million-a-year Hensley & Co. following her father’s death. It is one of the largest Anheuser-Busch beer distributors “
This explains a great deal.
You are correct. They would rather bow to a militant minority of perverts than treat their customers with respect.
