As Bud Light, once a beloved contender among the country's favorite beers, spirals down to the 14th spot, the repercussions resonate far beyond the brand itself.
A recent YouGov survey reveals the decline in Bud Light's ranking, casting it below competitors like Pabst Bue Ribbon, Miller Genuine Draft and Miller Lite. This seismic shift in popularity jeopardizes the livelihoods of the 65,000 people whose economic well-being is intricately tied to Anheuser-Busch InBev's success.
Anheuser-Busch CEO Brendan Whitworth has taken full responsibility for the controversial promotion involving transgender influencer Dylan Mulvaney that caused sales to plummet. In an interview with CBS, Whitworth emphasized that he is ultimately accountable for the actions of the company, expressing concern for the people whose livelihoods depend on Anheuser-Busch.
"It's the impact honestly on the employees that weighs the most on me," he said.
Whitworth called on people not to punish the workforce but rather to attribute blame to him. He made it clear that he acknowledges the repercussions of the promotion and urged consumers to continue supporting Bud Light.
While Anheuser-Busch has attempted to downplay Mulvaney's role in its overall strategy, Whitworth confirmed that the company will maintain its partnerships without making any changes. He did not explicitly apologize for the collaboration with Mulvaney, despite some consumers demanding an official acknowledgment of the mistake as a prerequisite for restoring their patronage.

The 65,000:employees affected? This is like so many retailers going out of business due to stupid decisions by their leadership. What are we to do - shop at Bed Bath & Beyond to save their employees from BB&B’s foolish management decisions? It’s corporate Darwinism, play stupid games, win stupid prizes.
Hope Bud suffers more, could care less about that crappy beer.
Like - drink to keep people employed!
It was THE CEO’s job to think of the people FIRST, not us! Why is he still the CEO, you or I cost our company that kind of money, we’d be washing windshields at stoplights.
Okay I blame Brendan Whitworth. He is one big class A f*ckup! There that was easy.
Now as for punishment, Brendan Whitworth should be dragged out of his big cushy CEO office and DRAWN & QUARTERED!
YOU Brendan Whitworth are solely responsible for this. Do the honorable thing.
*YOU* think of those 65,000 employees. *YOU* created this.
*APOLOGIZE* for putting that sick f@ggot in your commercials. *BEG* people for forgiveness and swear you will *NEVER* put another sick little f@ggot into your commercials!
Tell the "gay" Mafia to go to h3ll, and stop trying to have it both ways.
I’m not punishing anyone. My CHOICE is to support the owner, brewmaster, and employees of my favorite local craft brewery.
I heard a rumor—Drinking Bud Light makes you Gay. Drink a few and your guy friends look more and more sexy and cool. Its a drug they put in the brew.
Why does whitworth survive? Why hasn’t someones just up the food chain at ambev called for his head on a pike?
Beer is mostly just beer if it passes a certain level of quality. Switching is easy. AB should know that. Loyalty is to brand and type, not the brew.
Rather cowardly using human shields. Par.
If whitworthless takes full responsibility lets see him take full consequence.
Bye brendan?
Why is he still employed? CEOs are as interchangeable as beers. They are all just about the same.
“Whitworth emphasized that he is ultimately accountable for the actions of the company, expressing concern for the people whose livelihoods depend on Anheuser-Busch.”
He should resign immediately if the Board of Directors does not have the cojones to fire him.
Anything less is just happy talk.
As TV commercials go, I liked it. It was positive and showed the human side of the company - the regular daily employees. I feel sorry for them because I suspect that many would not have favored the Dylan Mulvaney 1 year of girlhood campaign.
Having said all that, this is a commercial they should have done a few years ago. Anything they do know is an attempt to lead people away from what caused the problem in the first place.
Whitworth called on people not to punish the workforce but rather to attribute blame to him.

just words unless he steps down
he sounds like hillary
“...Bud Light has never been good.”
Agreed. I’ve never cared for Bud Light’s taste. That’s why I don’t drink it. Regular Budweiser and Budweiser Select (before the changed the formula) are decent though.
“It’s the impact honestly on the employees that weighs the most on me,” he said.”
But he’s not worried enough to actually change what they’re doing.

“My CHOICE is to support the owner, brewmaster, and employees of my favorite local craft brewery.”
You’re lucky if you have that option. In the Twin Cities, many of the craft breweries are run and staffed by people who would largely agree with Dylan Mulvaney and live on the “Orange Man Bad” mantra.
