The time an F-22 flew right under an F-4 from Iran: The American-made F-22 Raptor recently made headlines for shooting down multiple objects this February, including one Chinese balloon over U.S. airspace.
Back in 2013, an Iranian fighter pilot was approaching an American drone in international airspace when a pair of F-22 Raptors flew right beside him.
The words uttered by the Raptor pilot was enough to make the Phantom swiftly turn around.

The F-22 is a great fighter which is why the idiots in the Air Force wanted the F-35 Swiss Army Plane...it’s a crappy fighter! It’s a crappy bomber! It costs too much!
But Heaven forbid America have a serious air superiority fighter like the F-22.
I would guess the F-4 pilot probably had to do a quick return to the Iranian base for a change of underwear.

We agree, but it would be nice to see a diffinitive interview by fifty F-35 pilots expressing the same. Of course the cost issue cannot be denied.
And the Air Force wants to retire the F-22s early instead of upgrading them. Hopefully the Next Generation Air Dominance (NGAD) platform is superior.

Nope. The balloon was well above the service ceiling for any of our fighters...even with the extra reach of a missile from the highest altitude. The Chinese are well aware of the "safe" altitude range for their balloons. The really bad news is that altitude is also optimal for a nuclear EMP.
