The entire beer industry is floored that Bud Light is still taking heat over its now-infamous promo with transgender influencer Dylan Mulvaney and the backlash has put rival beers in high demand, according to the publisher of prominent trade publication Beer Business Daily.
"The whole industry is in shock. Even Bud's competitors aren't really dancing on the grave because they know it could have happened to them," Beer Business Daily editor and publisher Harry Schuhmacher told Fox News Digital.
"This particular promotion just really struck a chord. It was just a bridge too far, apparently, for consumers… we’re in week six and it doesn't look like it's getting any better," he continued. "In fact, the numbers just keep getting a little worse every week… down in the 25% area. And their competitors are up almost just as much, and that's continuing through today."
Schuhmacher, who regularly speaks to beer distributors across North America, believes newfound demand for light lagers that aren’t owned by Anheuser-Busch could result in a trickle-down effect on the industry. Molson Coors, the parent company of both Coors Light and Miller Lite, might not even be able to supply enough beer as Americans enter a holiday weekend that unofficially kicks off the start of summer.
"You can't just flip a switch and make beer. You know, beer is brewed. It takes, you know, at least a couple of weeks to make. So, they haven't had major supply issues yet, but we're about to hit Memorial Day and we could probably see some supply shortages there," Schuhmacher said.
Molson Coors told Fox News Digital there are no out-of-stock concerns ahead of Memorial Day Weekend because inventory was built up over the winter.

I object to Dylan Mulvaney and his constant parodying of women. That is doing something wrong in my book.
No woman drinks beer in a bathtub with bubbles all over while waiting on hold for some stupid person on the other end of a phone call. NOBODY DOES THAT.
He’s an a-hole drama queen that is despicable and detestable. That he has gotten rich off of his show is completely disgusting to me.

Not the point, but I happen to agree with you. Mulvaney is what he is and took money from people who should have known better and delivered (oh, my, did he ever). This is the fault of the fools who thought that was a positive image. Who had every tool necessary to avoid this disaster and were paid to do so and through sheer cocksure arrogance thought that anyone who disagreed’s opinion didn’t matter. And who found out different.
This isn’t a boycott. Boycotts imply the subject of the boycott can be forgiven if it changes.
Bud is a dead brand. Maybe they can revive it in a generation.
Exactly. That is common sense. If your business is making and selling widgets, focus on making and selling widgets. Stay out of political and social matters that have nothing to do with making and selling widgets.
There is no Budweiser anymore. What was once all the brands of Bud is now only two chairs on the Inbev board. Becks and Bud are both now variations of the same company.

Perhaps it’s time to quit drinking mass produced swill and discover the many fine beers being made by local craft breweries and smaller regional breweries.
I can’t remember if it was the 80’s or early 90’s but Stroh’s used to beat Budweiser like a drum at taste tests at every major city. Only problem was Budweiser had the marketing and Stroh’s never could capitalize on their taste test wins.
I introduced Shiner bock to a German fellow years ago. He was impressed with the quality and the history of the brewery.
German immigrants brought the recipe and the process over from Bavaria.
