Ashlee Wright has four boys under age 16, a home, a husband, and a demanding job as a mining coordinator in Utah. Sometimes, she needs a break; and for years, smoking cigarettes provided it.
"Smoking would be kind of my 'time out' at home," said Wright, 35, who smoked between a half pack and a pack a day, usually on her porch.
Then about six months ago, Wright started taking Ozempic, a form of semaglutide used to treat diabetes and increasingly prescribed off-label for weight loss.
Wright said she and her doctor decided to try it off-label to manage her insulin resistance, polycystic ovary syndrome, and reduce her heart-disease risk. The possibility of weight-loss was appealing, too
Wright says the drug, which she pays for out-of-pocket, lowered her blood pressure and cholesterol, lightened her periods, and led to her dropping 45 pounds. It also came with an unexpected side effect: She couldn't finish a single cigarette. "I quit smoking within a few weeks because every time I smoked, it was just disgusting," Wright said.
Wright turned to nicotine gum to manage withdrawals and ice cubes for a tactile replacement. She's also come up with games that challenge her kids to bike to the park to give her a break. "I had to find creative ways to have a little reset instead of going out on the porch and hiding," she said.
Others have reported similar experiences. "I was a causal smoker years! However once I moved to the higher dosage of Ozempic, I had zero urge to smoke and actually haven't smoked in 9 months," one poster wrote on Reddit.

I took it for weight loss.
The husband: close but no cigar.
I passed up dating a few real cuties in high school due to their choice to smoke. Having grown up in a household where both parents smoked, I didn't want more of that.
Your last sentence is of great significance:
“Ozempic delays dumping the sugar you urgently need (as a T1 Diabetic) from your stomach.”
I’ve never seen that point discussed before.
I don’t have diabetes, but those who do, should be aware of this possible result.
Is insider part of the lefty Business Insider, pushing NWO pharma shills?
I know you know this, but you will die gasping for air. Throw them away, or end up in bed smoking with an oxygen cannula in your nose. I have had 5 family members die from cigarettes from COPD, then emphysema, to say nothing of my Father who died of Lung Cancer.
After you quit, you will be amazed that you ever put such a disgusting tasting thing in your mouth, to say nothing of the smell on fingers, in the car, and rooms.
My Wife still smokes, 62 years old and 2 packs a day. She gets $900 a month from SS, and spends 600 on cigarettes. So I may be prejudiced on this. If I left her, she would literally be in a homeless camp in one month. Over cigarettes!!!
Cut out the bread, chips, crackers and sugar. In no time at all you will not be hungry. Eat meat, eggs, cheese, butter and if you like hand food, get spinach tortillas and wrap them around the scrambled eggs or Tuna.
spinach tortillas
good idea
thanks
tootsie pops helped me quit
stress relief
I’ve used a Combivent Respimat Emergency Inhaler, for the past 10yrs+, and it works to break-up all the crap in my lungs. I can easily power walk, run up stairs etc, after a hit of mist (not powder) from the Inhaler.
I have 7 co-morbidities, so one of those will kill me, not smokes.
But many thanks for the sage advice.
Not even the Winter Ozempics?
How many licks did you give your Tootsie Pop before you crunched down on the chocolate roll?
‘KISSING a girl who SMOKED was akin to kissing an ashtray.’
I couldn’t have cared less in my youth about the girl’s breath; I was just happy to be kissed...
I've been following it and it's all made up hysteria BS just like the "Ozempic face" tripe they were pushing. There's a multi-billion dollar weight loss industry that stands to lose everything if there's an effective weight loss medication, that's who's pushing this hysterical tripe. Do some real research into these medications, don't be a democrat and fall for all the media BS.
The dosage is exactly the same for weight loss as diabetes until you get to the top dose where Ozempic tops out at 2.0mg a week and Wegovy tops out at 2.4mg, hardly a significant amount. The only reason they slightly changed the dosage and the name for the weight loss version is so they could increase the price by 40% and milk people for more money.
Enjoy it then - and good luck on your weight loss. I wouldn’t risk it, but of course I don’t have a problem.
So my doc prescribed Ozempic for me and it showed up in the mail. Its a once week injection and I was gonna start on Sunday. Now I dont know. I dont smoke. What the hell is it gonna do to me?
I have read several warnings that it is not intended for T1 diabetes.
I'm not on it and didn't say that I was. My best friend is and has good success, and none of the stuff you're spouting.
