Swedish actor Dolph Lundgren revealed Wednesday that he has been secretly fighting cancer for eight years.
“They found a tumor … in my kidney, and they took it out here in LA in 2015,” Lundgren, 65, explained on “In Depth With Graham Bensinger.” “But then they did a biopsy — and it was cancerous.”
SNIP
“The Expendables” actor grew emotional recalling his journey. He said after the initial tumor discovery he underwent scans every six months, then every year, which he said were “fine.”

He made a decent He-Man when I was a kid. And of course Rocky IV.
His particular form of cancer has a very high survival rate.
At this point he’s probably no more likely to develop that kind of cancer than an average person.
He’s apparently a brilliant guy. Can’t remember what. But he was an engineer or consultant of some kind and he looked right so they moved him into acting.
The second opinion seems to have been a blessing. Good luck to him and may his mind have some peace.
IMO, “I Come in Peace” was his bet role.
Per wikipedia
Lundgren received a degree in chemical engineering from the KTH Royal Institute of Technology in the early 1980s and a master’s degree in chemical engineering from the University of Sydney in 1982.
My son had bladder cancer. He’s had plenty of parts removed. It’s been two years of hell. He’s down to one kidney which seems to be functioning properly. His last surgery was 6 weeks ago. How he even processes everything and stay positive, I don’t know.
He has degrees in chemical engineering and is a black belt in karate. He’s kind of a badass.
I would have his babies and imma dude
You’d have competition, my friend.
He’s had quite a battle with it. Too bad it spread like it did. Hopefully, he’s on the mend.
My dad had a tumor in one of his kidneys 50 years ago. They got it before it spread by removing that kidney, and he lived another 30 years.
No chemo or radiation, either.
I wish him well, I always enjoy watching him act.
I’m glad for you that your dad had another 30years.
I believe if the organ/part is expendable—go radical.
Remove the organ/part and try to avoid the radiation.
I hope Mr. Lundgren has continued success in his battle.
He got a Fulbright scholarship to MIT, to get his PhD in Chemical Engineering.
Then he met Grace Jones, fell in love, and dropped out to work as her bodyguard.
if he dies, he dies
I have metastatic prostate cancer. My PSA is undetectable. It will likely never progress.
After a yearly CT scan a few weeks ago, I was also diagnosed with kidney cancer in both kidneys. The tumors are so small, they aren’t even close to being stage 1. At that stage, kidney cancer is 100% curable.
My youngest son, age 48 at the time, had 4 big cancerous polyps, and underwent surgery in April of 2019. They did two resections which included taking a large part of his colon. He went through 6 months of chemo treatments. He then developed a blood clot in his lung, which can be a side effect of the chemo, and he had to give himself injections of Heparin the rest of the time he was on chemo. He’s been cancer-free since then, but because of the surgery, he has frequent bowel movements which forced him to have to give up his job. He worked at Geico’s road service phone center. He couldn’t even do the job from home, because he never knew when he was going to have to run to the bathroom. He’s lucky he didn’t end up with a colostomy. The chemo also gave him neuropathy in his hands and feet. It left his hands about a year ago, but it has never gone away in his feet. He still has to go for scans periodically. I hope your son continues to recover quickly, and remains healthy.
Wow. Your nice. You must be a blast to be around.
There’s a meme out there comparing him to Bill Nye the science guy. Dolphin blows him away.
He’s smart, handsome, and tough.
But, cancer doesn’t care.
Wishing him the best...
