The UK's sole child gender clinic was ordered to close it doors yesterday following more than a decade of allegations that it rushed teenagers onto life-altering puberty blocking drugs.
It was finally brought down after a probe into claims from brave whistleblowers who had been raising concerns about practices at the trust for 17 years.
North London-based Gender Identity Development Service (GIDS), part of the Tavistock and Portman NHS Foundation Trust, has treated 9,000 children as young as 10 since it opened in 1989.
But it has faced a myriad of accusations from staff and former patients, with patients claiming they were rushed to change gender without having their mental health properly assessed.
Medics described a 'climate of fear' about being labelled transphobic by managers and colleagues if they dared to question the service's approach.
Dr Hilary Cass, a top paediatrician leading an NHS-commissioned review into Tavistock, last week told health chiefs that the centre needed to be overhauled after speaking with dozens of whistleblowers.
Concerns were first raised about the clinic in 2005, when Sue Evans, a nurse at GIDS warned that youngsters were being assessed too quickly and their treatment was influenced by transgender rights groups.
She accused staff, some of whom she said previously worked at transgender charities such as Mermaids and Gendered Intelligence, of immediately affirming children's beliefs, rather than trying to understand all the difficulties the child was experiencing. Some referred patients for puberty blockers after just four appointments.
The drugs pause physical changes in puberty, such as the development of breasts or facial hair. Rishi Sunak and Liz Truss, who are vying to be the next Prime Minister, last night vowed to crack down their use in children, hinting that they could be outright banned for under-18s.

They try to “fix” gay people with medical science. Once upon a time, the Left was outraged at such talk.
In Iran they fix gay people by making them transgender. Would seem they are doing this in England and America too.
The problem with legalizing anything is that it instantly becomes a profit center. Legalize pot and you get a huge hit in jobs and taxes. Legalize abortion and you get abortion mills with no free options, like adoption. Legalize euthanasia and you get advertisements for euthanasia centers. Legalize sex change operations and you get mass sales of sex change operations.
Our civilization is highly specialized. People who do one thing are generally only licensed to do that one thing. Therefore, if they want to live the dream of a house in the suburbs and a BMW they’d better do a lot of that one thing.

So how would they determine a candidate is psychologically capable of a successful, permanent sex transition? They’d have to admit the candidate is thoroughly, irrevocably, permanently insane right?

This is what we in biological science call cell division and replication.
If children can choose to be permanently sterilized they should also have the right to hire a lawyer ans sue their ‘parents’. Now they have to wait until they’re adults to sue... Change that.
AND they should be able to keep the money. NOT wait until they’re 18.

Sue their parents for what exactly?
Allowing the minor to be sterilized for life? I imagine that would be cause for emancipation of the minor with the legal right to seek relief (file a suit) from the courts.
Every state has some form of minor emancipation on the books. Easier in some states than others and ages vary. Some states allow minor emancipation at 14 years old, some at 16 and some at 17.
The reasons for emancipation also vary from state to state.
If parents allow their five year old to drive on the interstate and the child causes an accident the parents are held liable. If the child is permanently disfigured I would assume as some point they should be allowed to sue their idiot parents. It would be the same here.

Many years ago, about 30 I’d say, my wife rear-ended a car in a notorious stop and go area. One of my sons was riding shotgun and his arm was broken by the air bag. As I was going through the paperwork for the insurance company I came across a section that, if checked and signed, would result in an automatic lawsuit for My son against the driver.
That was 30 years ago.
