"A crazed man’s rampage came to a not-so-sudden end Saturday morning in Montgomery County Maryland, and a bystander caught it all on video. After striking a lone deputy twice with a long stick, the attacker took a dozen rounds while still advancing on the officer."

Probably. I was pretty surprised when he called the dying dude “privileged”. Really?
Possessed by a demon
The guy looked full out possessed.
And yet, in MD, people can only get 10-round magazines. MD is an embarrassment.
I really do think that you have to “train” for head-shots and hope you don’t hit anyone down-range.
Screw that, and screw him. This kind of stuff is why I've transition from various 1911s (mostly Kimbers) to Rock Island 2011s. 18+1 rounds in the 9mm, 14+1 rounds in the .45.
Amateur.
I would not have shot him.
I would have called for backup, stayed with him, warned others to stay away, and possibly have tried to engage him with a stun gun or, just keep talking him down.
Then again that takes brains, not guns.
This poor, weak, crazed bastard with a “long stick” didn’t need to die.
And that’s all I have to say about that.
Not sayin’ the cop didn’t have the “right” to shoot him,
but I wouldn’t have.
Blood over his t shirt and lower abdomen and top of his trousers. Guy did agonal breathing. Automatic when body has too little oxygen. Big gulps. Difficult to watch. My guess is the perp was very drunk or on drug which made him unable to think. Loose drug laws, and psychotics not in hospitals, and there gonna’ be more of this.
That guy was a freaking zombie just walking through the barrage of bullets. Jeff Cooper used to teach the Mozambique Drill for just such a situation. Put two in the chest and if that doesn’t stop the threat put one in the head.
9mm good enough for Wehrmacht, good enough for me.
Montgomery County’s main law enforcement is the Police Department. I lived there until I was 32 and didn’t even know there was a Sheriff’s Department until a short stint when I worked in the County Lockup. Sheriff’s deputies did the prisoner transport, and most were physical specimens like the dude in the video.
I wasn’t there nor have I ever faced such a threat but it looks like the cop waited just a bit too long.

This guy was a Deep State operator. He went nuts.

The drug fiend had rammed a couple of other vehicles first. The deputy allowed him to get a little too close with the stick, in my opinion.
Easy to armchair quarterback a shooting. Who knows how it would have played out following your plan. The officer stood in the gap while citizens were in the vicinity, and stopped an apparently mentally disturbed man who crashed his vehicle into innocent citizens vehicles, brandished and then used a weapon capable of causing great bodily harm or death. The officer did no wrong. Like Mike Tyson said, “Everyone has a plan until they get punched in the mouth.”
Yes he did.
Yet there are plenty of Luddites who swear a revolver is all that’s needed. I’ll stick with my Glock 23 with its two spare mags. 40 rounds vs five or six. And forget about a revolver reload. The fight will be long over before you ever reload a revolver.
I love the way the brothers reacted to it!😎
