Star Trek Discovery Is Cancelled And Fans Are Divided Star Trek Discovery is being cancelled after its fifth season, and the reaction from fans shows that its place in the franchise is uncertain. By Rhiannon Bevan Published 2 days ago After a six-year run, it's official: Paramount is pulling the plug on Star Trek Discovery. This isn't quite enough to make it the shortest-running mainline Trek series - that "honour" goes to Star Trek Enterprise - but it is a far more abrupt end than most. So unsurprisingly, fans are divided on both the show, and the decision to can it after just five seasons. While some are mourning the show, grateful that it kickstarted a new generation of Trek, others shed no tears at all, feeling that it was the worst of the bunch. Then we have others who are actually happy it's gone, celebrating the end of a show that seems to have struggled to find its place in the Star Trek series.

Shut her down Luke, she’s pumpin’ mud.
Stacey Abrams is the black Ted McGinley. Only took one episode. But really, the black Mary Sue had already killed Discovery.
Can you imagine what SciFi is going to be like in 20 years?
I am one too!
5 years? Never heard of it. Sounds like I’m lucky.
Each Star Trek series after Next Generation got a little further away from both elements. Discovery had neither. Without those it's not Star Trek.
Can’t name one.... I just remember a gay chief engineer and a gay doctor or something. And a chubby girl to I think.
My favorite was Star Trek Enterprise. TNG was good, I grew up watching those.
Never watched an ep, never had an inkling to. It’s the opposite of Roddenberry’s vision, as is all the Woke Drek/Faux Drek vomitus in the post-2000s error of Abrams, Kurtzman, et al.
I gave it three seasons, considering how bad Next Generation’s first season was. LOL Next Generation was better the 2nd season but didn’t really take off until the 3rd season. So I gave Discovery 3 seasons and it just kept getting worse.
The only real star trek Enterprise commander.
Every other since was an epic fail, especially
picard.
Tried to watch it. It seemed too dark, like they don’t have proper lighting in the future?
Just go back to the “stand alone” episodes format that worked for Classic Trek and TNG
Some of these spinoffs I liked others I hated. TNG I really didn’t like that much, Picard too pompous and Riker a true idiot, etc.. I did like Deep Space Nine and Voyager were fine. Recent stuff had no interest in.
Every time Picard called Riker to his ready room I wondered what was going on,
Number One, Make it so!
My last trek was the first Abrams reboot in the movies and a few episodes of Enterprise for tv. That was it for me. Nothing since. It is indeed dead at least for me Jim. Same with Star Wars and virtually everything from big entertainment.
Yup.
It’s funny hearing people complain Star Trek has “gone woke”, when it always has been. I think along with the Twilight Zone Star Trek was one of the first shows to push leftist/progressive ideas
Good thing we have dvds and blu ray of the old stuff.
I liked the TOS, did not care for TNG, DS9 was great, I tried with Voyager and it was usually entertaining, Enterprise was decent.
This one I watched the first half dozen and just stopped.
Probably never will pick up Star Trek again.
But I have been told that they are not being made for "people like me" anyway.
It has always been a Communist brainwashing tool. Good action but the message was alway Socialist.
It’s a matter of degree.
TOST and TZ were more liberal..not subversive insane left.
Although, Rodendigglebery personally wads close..and probably would be all in ..if he were alive today. Not so sure about Serling.
When Chris said f'it (taking the Thor money), Quentin got real, real quick (it's rumored that the ST4 failure went miles towards Tarantino's 'retirement') and bowed out hard with any future Abrams collaboration.
Now JJ is just trying to con job Paramount into a quarter-billion budget without a script.
It's over, series is over, canon is over, Millenials finally flexed their almost non-existent power by killing off old movie canons, just to show what they can do.
