This happens often in the south. I know it does in Florida. Cars wind up in canals, rivers, or retention ponds and the drivers essentially vanish off the face of the earth. It could be decades, if ever, before the decedent is found.

9 comments on the Pinto, one on the dead kid. Classic.

That ambulance may have been a little late to the scene of the accident.

Do you remember a few years back someone posted about this same kind of story, I think in FL and the site ended up being a pond in one of those newer neighborhood developments? I actually may have seen a FORENSIC Files about it too. There was a road along one side of this neighborhood pond. You could sort of see the submerged car in the satellite views.

The picture reminds me of a movie from 1981, “Ghost Story”. There is a scene where an old car is pulled out of a river, or a lake, and a girl’s body is in it…
Melvyn Douglas, Fred Astaire, John Houseman, Douglas Fairbanks, Jr. among others. A great movie.
I think I’ll look for it tonight…

PINTO! No sweat! Send it to the scrappers in Missouri! Instead of crushing it for scrap they will take another wrecked Pinto, splice the two( or three) together clean it and run it down into Arkansas where they can sell it at the auto auchtons as an abandoned car!
There you can get a nice clean new Arkansas title for $45 showing it has never been wrecked and only driven to church on Sundays by the salesman’s poor old grandma.
Guaranteed to run till you get a mile from the car lot!
It is the Arkan-saw way!

There's a couple kids who have a Youtube channel on magnet fishing. On one excursion they were casting their magnet off a back road bridge and hooked on to a big Harley motorcycle.
They called the local sheriff who came out with a wrecker and they hauled it out of the river.
Sheriff said it probably belonged to a local dude who was currently in prison and was likely pushed off the bridge by his ex-wife...........LOL!

A lot of times, it is vampires that get these missing people. When they do, you will never get the body back.
