This was a few years ago in Michigan:
This was last month, in Iowa:

And now here's this week, in New York:

Only three hours after she was pronounced dead, an 82-year-old woman was found to be breathing at a New York funeral home where she had been transported, police said. ...
The unnamed woman from Long Island, N.Y., was declared dead at 11:15 a.m. on Sunday at the Water's Edge Rehab and Nursing Center, according to Suffolk County police. She was transferred to OB Davis Funeral Homes in Miller Place, N.Y., at 1:30 p.m.
She was discovered breathing at 2:09 p.m., police said.
Now, I know what you're thinking: "Three mistaken declarations-of-death, in three states, over three years. Is that really that big of a deal?"
I mean, I don't know. It feels like a pretty big deal to me.
If you'd asked me to guess how often this sort of thing happens nowadays, I would have pretty confidently said, "More or less never." Don't they have like machines that can detect if you're dead or not?
Isn't that a standard part of emergency medical care nowadays?
Scary
And “ Dead Ringer”
it appears to me that perhaps morgues might possibly have greater healing environments than hospitals ... certainly much less costly ..
I didn’t do it!
Proper procedure is to throw down the smoke bomb, place cardboard cutout, then wait for the smoke to clear before shuffling out the side door dressed as the pizza guy.
My coffee is (mostly) harmless.
It may have a warning saying “not for internal consumption” but that’s just meaningless legally required cautions and warnings.
To make sure they're dead? An autopsy will do it.
There have never been any complaints. (Or survivors.)
I said years ago that the insistence on hiring based on affirmative action rather than competency would soon affect all institutions. You see it now in all interactions with both governmental agencies, all public services, and private companies. Those that “can do” things have retired or been pushed out in favor of those that check all the correct boxes.
Much as you now cannot trust your doctor to be competent, you can no longer trust first responding medical personnel to be competent either. All criteria for hiring that previously been based on a person’s experience, knowledge, and ability to do the best job possible, have been replaced by requirements that a new hire be from one of the favored groups.
We will see continued worsening failures in everything from the medical field, infrastructure maintenance, public services, and manufacturing of goods. The failures are going to have a domino effect on our economy as standards are lowered further and further.

It would be simple to invent a machine that could verify some ‘middle of the night’ nursing home doctor’s guess.
These are the people who inject you with COVID vaccines to "keep you safe" - whether it's due to malice or stupidity it doesn't seem like the standard has anything to do with preserving human life, these days. Too many senior health care executives are true believers in saving the planet through depopulation, I suppose.
does the organ harvesting industry discriminate between race, gender, age or sexual preference??
do they offer premium graded products? choice, better, best, certified, gluten free??
