By the way, I'm the same about anchor babies. Even if they're born here that doesn't make them U.S. citizens (if their parents weren't U.S. citizens).
I don’t care for Nikki Haley, but why wasn’t this type of scrutiny given to Barack Hussein Obama ?

Neither of my grandmothers ever became citizens....nor did they ever speak English.
That doesn’t make them ‘natural born’... with the 14th amendment they are still ‘native born’ citizens... which is why the Constitution would need amending to get rid of ‘anchor babies.’
The exclusions listed above also apply to Kamala Harris.. neither of her parents were citizens when she was born.
The law applies only to Republicans, not Democrats...............
What a stupid article. If you can’t be a citizen unless your parents are citizens already, I guess no one is a citizen, unless maybe all your ancestors lived here when the Constitution was adopted.

‘Native born’.. a ‘natural born citizen’ has always meant born to citizen parent(s).
‘Natural’ in law has always meant ‘from the body..’ as in a ‘natural son’ is a person who came from the body, regardless of church sanction.. that is ‘a bastard.’
This takes me back to 2009.

1) She hasn’t got a snowball’s chance in Hades of getting a nomination.
2) The Constitution does not define the term “natural born citizen” and the Supreme Court hasn’t either. Current legal interpretation is that it simply refers to someone who is a citizen at birth and does not need naturalization.
So, the whole discussion is a boring repeat of old stuff.
Good post; the article is correct. Do not confuse “citizen” with “natural born citizen” . President is the only office with this requirement.

The 14th Amendment is pretty clear on this.
It’s not only stupid but pointless, Nikki Haley has no chance of winning the nomination and trying to make this argument against her is pointless because no one will buy into it.
I respectfully disagree. The word "native" as in "native born" doesn't depend on location. It's defined as "being such by birth or origin".
14th Amendment text:
All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the state wherein they reside.
To your point, the phrase: "All persons born or naturalized in the United States..." seems to back up your point about people born on U.S. soil. That is, until you get to the phrase "and subject to the jurisdiction thereof". To me that means if you're born a citizen of another country (subject to that country's laws) then your birth on U.S. soil doesn't count as making you a natural born citizen. And we have precedent of that with indigenous Americans (I hate to say "Native Americans" in this context LOL) being born off of the reservation (and thus on U.S. soil) but not being counted as U.S. citizens. They didn't become U.S. citizens until much later by the 1924 Indian Citizenship Act.
