MIAMI, Fla. [WFLA] — A Florida man is behind bars after he tried to rob a Publix in Miami with a stapler.
Patrick Abbott, 31, entered the Publix on Biscayne Boulevard, gave an employee a note stating he had a gun, and told her to put money in a bag.
After the employee read the note, she pretended to help one of her co-workers and called for help, according to NBC affiliate WFLA.
Abbott left Publix empty-handed and was caught by Miami Police while throwing the note away.
The gun he claimed to have turned out to be a black stapler, according to police.
He’s facing charges of armed robbery.

Beware Florida Man. He can MacGuyver a weapon out of anything. Last week he hijacked an international flight armed with only a paper clip, some string and a piece of silly puddy

Tell me it was at least a roofing gun with an extra capacity battery and 5/8” staples.

It didn’t bind like a Boston stapler does.

Was he told he could listen to the radio at a reasonable volume from nine to eleven?

I had hoped he at least had a staple GUN, so it would be technically correct.

Woody Allen didn’t do much better in Take the Money and Run when he carved a bar of soap into a gun shape and put black shoe polish on it to escape from prison. It started raining and he ended up with a bubbly foamy mess.

There’s simply no good reason for a citizen to possess a high capacity assault stapler…
