Seems to be a lot of these roughing the passer penalties. What the heck are defensive players supposed to do? Use flag football on QBs?
Appears to be more than usual lousy officiating this year, what has changed? Maybe refs with ponytails?
He made contact with the helmet, which is an automatic penalty these days. This makes at least three calls where the offendee ducked enough to cause helmet contact not intended by the offender.
They “NFL World” is more pissed off over a questionable call than they were when their pigfaced idols were on the field on their knees dissing the American Flag and the National Anthem. Screw the NFL and its “fans”.
1. push/late hit on Brock Purdy out of bounds.
2. cards player lifting and twisting the leg of a tackled Deebo. That was the same leg he injured two weeks ago and was still nursing.
It was absurd. How is he supposed to sack the QB if he doesn’t bring him down while the QB has the ball? That the QB was able to throw it away as he was being brought down doesn’t make this ‘roughing the passer’.
I’m a Lions fan...still annoyed about the ‘running into the kicker’ call against the Rams during their game with the Seahawks...when it was ‘pushed into the kicker’ which doesn’t count. Seahawks get the ball back and score, Rams would probably have ran the clock too far otherwise (Seahawks loss = Lions in playoff after beating Green Bay). That said, we should have won more games earlier in the season...but still, annoying.
At least the Giants still won.
I’d check this refs DraftKings app. The call was a stinker.
Of all the plays that took place yesterday, nothing will compare to the Ravens robbing themselves of a touchdown by inches and watching the fumble returned all the way.

This weekend was some of the worst officiating I can remember.
The nfl should just go to playing flag football.....really if you think about it, it solves a whole lot of their problems.....injuries would drop, no more CTE and calls like this would not occur.
As a mater of fact, your not gonna believe this but the pro bowl WILL be in the flag format.
“For the first time, the event will consist of skills competitions and a non-contact flag football game, rather than an actual tackle football game.”
Oughta make for riveting entertainment. SMH

Contact with the helmet, and spun the guy down, both of which they want to not happen, especially to QBs. With Tua probably having gotten 3 concussions this season, and 2 teams in the playoffs starting their 3rd stringer, the refs are in a bad spot. Clearly QBs are getting hurt, mostly on plays that had no call. And they’re supposed to be not letting that happen. So yeah, they’re a little twitchy.
The penalty was for hitting the QB in the face. Yes, it looks like a glancing blow that smacked the face mask and yanked the head downward. the penalty was legit.
How about the Bengals game?
IIRC roughing the kicker when a Raven was incidentally diving into the ground and rolled to Bengal kicker’s leg.
Or not calling block in the back on the Bengals when touching Mark Andrews trying to stop an interception return.
Not saying these don’t go by the rules….but as discussed here, how many really do?
Face it. If you are a competent, white, Christian male, the NFL does not want your services.
Contact began while the ball was still in QB hand. Then the big bear just rolled him gently over.
Like Alex Karras famously said: “Let’s just put little dresses on ‘em”.
It’s not THAT BAD of a call... I’ve seen plenty worse.
He did throw him to the ground AFTER the ball was thrown, but how was he to know, he was in the process of tacking him.
I stopped watching football years ago due to the rules becoming so convoluted the entire game became a referees’ game, not a players’ game.
That was shortly before the kneeling started.
Certainly lots of scared refs afraid to make a call—or non-call. On the positive side with generally only one game proceeding a time, and all of HQ’s officiating overlords concentrating on one game vs. 8-10 at once during regular season, reviews were almost instantaneous. Much improved.
One announcer mentioned the expedited reviews. If delays are a problem, look for the NFL to expand HQ’s officiating staff.
What the Minnesota Vikings proved is that they were simply the best team in one of the worst divisions of the NFL. They were going NOWHERE in the playoff's.
The refs were clearly trying to keep the game close and ratings up.
What’s the problem?
SCREW the NFL!
