Amid the Army’s historic ongoing recruiting crisis, the Army Enterprise Marketing Office has decided to reboot its former “Be all you can be” slogan in a look reminiscent of the 80s. The famous slogan first appeared during the 1981 New Year’s College Football bowl games. The slogan is set to launch in March of this year and is being praised as a step in the right direction to better meet recruitment numbers.
Maj. Gen. Alex Fink, the Army Reserve Officer in charge of the Army Enterprise Marketing Office, told Stars & Stripes, “[The Army is] not returning to ‘Be all you can be’ for nostalgia or old times’ sake or because we think retro is trendy and cool. We’re really reinventing it to reposition the Army and to inspire the next generation of soldiers.”
While boosting recruitment numbers was the stated purpose of the reboot, the reboot will surely bring about a feeling of nostalgia from decades prior. According to the Army Historical Foundation, “Trade magazine ‘Advertising Age’ rated the slogan the 18th best of its ‘top one hundred campaigns of the 20th Century.'”
The General told Army Times in August that prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Army had already initiated a revamp of its marketing for recruitment purposes.
According to Fink, “You couldn’t just start from ground zero and say, ‘Hey, let’s just do a brand refresh on the Army,’ with no route, no real repetitions under your belt,”…We have those repetitions now. And I think we’re in a really good place, and I think it’s the right time.”
Are the ads and slogans couched in rainbow colors.???…c’mon man diversity and perversity…
As long as the “be all you can be” person is a black lesbian single parent female I guess it will be alright.
Their new campaign will be a failure. All we need is a simple majority vote in Congress and away we go, enough American boys for ALL the DC warmongers’ wars. From the Selective Service:
1. Draft Authorization: Congress and the President
A national emergency, exceeding the Department of Defense’s capability to recruit and retain its total force strength, requires Congress to amend the Military Selective Service Act to authorize the President to induct personnel into the Armed Forces.
I still have my ‘Army of One’ shirt around here somewhere. It no longer fits though.
They should throw in a nice pair of red high heels when it enlists too..... /s
The Army of One?
I thought it was the Army of Juan.
It would probably work out better if they’d not use that line with a pic of Klinger from MASH. (/joke)
Almost anything’s gotta be better than that horrid “Army of One”!
They are going to have to resort to conscription to have standing Armed Forces before this is over.
So sad at how far we’ve fallen. The lack of trust that the chain of command would have your back has been deteriorating for a while.
I wouldn’t recommend anyone joining the U.S. military until congress cleans out the Woke Generals running the major military units.
All of the leftist crap installed by the Biden administration has to go as well.
I’d rather see Americas youth enjoying life at home than dying on some foreign battlefield throwing their lives away for an Idiot of a President named Joe Biden.
Ping.
Thanks for the ping. I have had a hard time keeping up with news and missed this.
Now it means “I can be a man, or woman today depending on who I see heading into the showers.”
I didn’t think much of it back then and it will probably be worse for who it might attract to enlist now with all the “woke” bravo sierra.
An Army of They / Them
The 80’s were the best time to grow up. If someone from a coma from 1985 woke up now, they might ask to go under again.
No one should volunteer for any military branch until all Woke Officers are fired.
Pure Reagan!
