Amid the Army’s historic ongoing recruiting crisis, the Army Enterprise Marketing Office has decided to reboot its former “Be all you can be” slogan in a look reminiscent of the 80s. The famous slogan first appeared during the 1981 New Year’s College Football bowl games. The slogan is set to launch in March of this year and is being praised as a step in the right direction to better meet recruitment numbers.
Maj. Gen. Alex Fink, the Army Reserve Officer in charge of the Army Enterprise Marketing Office, told Stars & Stripes, “[The Army is] not returning to ‘Be all you can be’ for nostalgia or old times’ sake or because we think retro is trendy and cool. We’re really reinventing it to reposition the Army and to inspire the next generation of soldiers.”
While boosting recruitment numbers was the stated purpose of the reboot, the reboot will surely bring about a feeling of nostalgia from decades prior. According to the Army Historical Foundation, “Trade magazine ‘Advertising Age’ rated the slogan the 18th best of its ‘top one hundred campaigns of the 20th Century.'”
The General told Army Times in August that prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Army had already initiated a revamp of its marketing for recruitment purposes.
According to Fink, “You couldn’t just start from ground zero and say, ‘Hey, let’s just do a brand refresh on the Army,’ with no route, no real repetitions under your belt,”…We have those repetitions now. And I think we’re in a really good place, and I think it’s the right time.”
And here's the 'Woke' garbage they came out with recently with Emma and her 2 Moms.
I really doubt the new commercials will be a successful recruitment tool.
Those be all you can be commercials were great.
If they keep doing that garbage, they might have to bring back the “Army of One” slogan, because that’s all that will be left. (Maybe the “one” can turn out the lights when he or she leaves.)
BAYB doesn’t mean the same thing now.
Not “Be who you want to be!”?
Be all you can be.. even X
Guys do not want to fight for a country whose govt sends them to die a money laundering operation while pretending to care about tge constituion sworn to whose cities and economy are a disaster and whose educational and medical systems are set up for self destruction
Come on folks, those neocons need some fresh meat to send to their foreign war machine meat grinder. All ya can eat and free body bags upon return.
be all the genders you can be?
I take it The Marines won’t be bringing back the “We’re Looking For A Few Good Men” campaign, anytime soon.
Indeed. You can be a he. You can be a she. You can be a dog. You can be both a he and a she. You can dress like a she, but be a he. You can be a he, but dress like a she. You can woker than woke. What you cannot be is a professional warrior who’s job is to eliminate your enemies (which now includes the Democrat party).
Thanks goodness they finally took decisive action to correct the problem.
I’m sure it was the lack of a good advertising slogan that was the cause of the recruiting numbers falling off proverbial cliff.
Once you lose people’s respect it’s hard to get it back.
At some point, the armed forces are going to be forced to acknowledge most of the recruitment gains made by advertising generic slogans like ‘be all you can be’ are being cancelled out by visual representations of Trans recruits or pro-trans propaganda forced upon new recruits.
Word of this force fed PC talk would get around quickly. You can add additional damages to recruiting or retainment from CRT matters.
That onlyt produces division, more racism and more distrust.
“We do less by 9 am than most people do all day.”
According to a Youtube video I saw recently there no longer shouting by drill instructors in U. S. Army boot camp, apparently. A kinder, gentler army indeed.
Military families in the South are no longer recommending their boys to join the service. Non-binary youth in urban cities are not going to sign up for Uncle Sam.
No one wants to fight a war for a senile, corrupted old man. Many young men I know see no patriotism in going off to fight in Biden’s Ukie war.
There is hope, many of our teens are not stupid.
Don’t they now mean “Be everyone you can be”?
