Olivia Hussey and Leonard Whiting, who starred in 1968's Romeo and Juliet, filed a lawsuit against Paramount for child abuse over a nude scene in the film.
Per Deadline, Hussey and Whiting filed the lawsuit in Santa Monica Superior Court on Jan. 3, accusing Paramount of sexual exploitation and the distribution of nude images of underage children. Now in their 70s, both actors were teenagers at the time they starred in the film; Hussey, who played Juliet, was 15 and Whiting, who played Romeo, was 16. The actors are seeking damages of over $100 million. "believed to be in excess of $500 million."
Based on William Shakespeare's iconic play of the same name, Romeo and Juliet was nominated for Best Picture at the Academy Awards at the time of its release. Directed by Franco Zeffirelli, who died in 2019, the film includes a nude bedroom scene that showed Whiting's buttocks and Hussey's breasts. According to the suit, Zeffirelli told both actors at the time that "no nudity would be filmed" for Romeo and Juliet and they would instead wear "flesh-colored undergarments" for the scene.

And they both continued to make movies.
Ridiculous..........................
If she was 15 then that’s too old for Brandon to try to find a copy of the film.
I know it is only my opinion, but I think 64 years after the fact is sorta late for any outrage.
From the last sentence of the article:
"The filing came just before the Dec. 31 expiration of a California law that temporarily suspended the statute of limitations on older claims of child sexual abuse."
I think it was a temporary law enacted by California intended for victims of Harvey Weinstein.
And Tatum O’Neal. At what point do their parents take some of the blame?
Why did they agree to star in the film?
54 actually, but the sentiment is the same
Nudity? Give me a break. They should track down the real freaks. Romeo and Juliet is not lascivious in any way.
The only time I paid attention in 11th grade English.
I believe California passed a law recently briefly removing all statue of limitations on sexual assault cases because they WANTED very old cases to be prosecuted according to the morality of 2020 rather than 1960.These are the sort of ridiculous cases being brought for $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ because California is Full-Woke.
The law requires them, IIRC, to file by some deadline - one that is drawing near.
I guess it would have been worse if Hussey was Juliet’s actual age in the play, 13... I thought the nude scene in the movie was very tastefully done...
We watched the film in school. Not sure which grade but between 6-12th.
Brooke Shields did several nude scenes in Blue Lagoon. I personally like that movie.
Great movie. Whiting was one of the best looking guys on the planet and every girl wanted to be Olivia Hussey. She was beautiful. That being said, 64 years and they are suing? WTF?
LOL, and I have a BS in math.
Filed in California! Good luck! They have state sponsored pedophilia there. They are going to be called hateful right wing bigots and run out of the courtroom, then counter sued for bringing this suit.
Oops, sorry, after 54 years.
As a 10 year old when Blue Lagoon came out I remember thinking that Boobie Shields was too young for that.
Maybe the Estate of actress Hedy Lammar should sue for those silent movies she made in Germany back in the 1920s.
She was probably under 16. Lots of teen girls lie about their age in order to be considered for a role. It’s a Cinema
tradition.
