No. From what I understand after reading online is that President Trump stated he has been getting phone calls all day regarding this vote. He didn’t specify who from. I would assume from the 20 and from McCarthy team as well. When asked if he supports McCarthy still, it was then he gave a vague reply about waiting to see how this plays out.
After what McCarthy has stated especially about J6, my opinion was the President gave support due to political inevitability. How things change. Now not so much inevitable. If I could change one thing about my favorite President, it would be those who surround and advise him. But then again he’s acting with a lot more inner knowledge than you or I will ever have.

How would McCarthy doing the right and honorable thing by stepping aside result in Jeffries becoming speaker?
No one is looking for a savior in Congress. And being “honorable” in Washington is the singular act of putting your country’s interests ahead of your own. That is a very rare breed in Washington. And honor in Washington — when it does exist — is episodic and transitory.
That’s why I prefaced my comment about McCarthy with IF.
Lord, stop with the hysterics, the country isn’t going to fall apart, it already did sometime ago. Just pass the popcorn and enjoy the Chaos, it’s great.

Well OK, since I’m always fair about everything with everybody all the time I’ll take your point on that one although frankly I didn’t bother to read back for some context.
My question to your buddy stands though; he/she seems somehow convinced that anything other than robotic unquestioning support for McCarthy translates into support for Jeffries.
The only way Jeffries becomes speaker would be with the support of RINOs who defect to the other side.
So I don’t get the hysteria when things are just following the way as defined by the Constitution. The only danger to that is people like Crenshaw referring to other Republicans as the enemy rather than the Communists, causing a predictable schism in the party if there isn’t one already.
That was the point Jordan was making in his nomination speech for McCarthy.

Recall the last two times the GOPe was tossed out just as fast as they came in as they did NOTHING, if McCarthy were to prevail it would be the same ole’ song and dance and it would be the final nail in the republican coffin.
It was that swamp scum Boehner that pulled conservatives off committees, trashed the tea party and all that. Not sure what all the noise is about regarding the congressional yelping going on about committees, however these folks are making it perfectly clear that McCarthy won’t pull the conservatives off committees like cry-baby Boehner did or they’ll throw him out of the speakership, hence their committee demands. One can guess anyway.
