The woman is from an older generation. I dont think she meant this as an insult...more in the way of where are your ancestors from. Like Meghan claiming she is 63% Nigerian.
But of course now you have to be careful about the way your phrase things since insults are seen everywhere

Looking at Ngozi Fulani name and how she was dressed, I can see how Lady Susan Hussey was confused.

So, was she from Africa? Why not just answer the questions?

So, a dude from Soho with red hair and a beard, wearing a green vest should be offended when asked by someone he’s never met about which part of Ireland he’s from?

If a racist black female can take down a royal family, I’d guess a troop of cub scouts armed with sticks, iron and flint could take down the entire British empire.
To: RummyChick
why would that matter? Ridiculous.

Well, the article says Hussey "refused to believe" the black woman. So it sounds like Hussey kept asking even after the black woman said she was British - asking once would have probably been fine, but refusing to accept the answer and continuing to ask what part of Africa she was from would be considered annoying and offensive by most people.

Ngozi Fulani said being asked where she 'really came from' ... will 'never leave me' --- what a buffoon. Dressed like that. What is she tring to say? Is she British or not?

Good golly. The woman is 83 years old. She probably doesn’t remember what she had for supper last night....much less, a conversation she had with a fake African.

So the lady is a Hussey.
Isn’t that a contradiction?
It’s quite humorous!

WHAT A CROCK!!!
I'm Greek and people always ask what part of Greece we're from...the islands, Cyprus, Rhodes, the mainland, etc?
Europeans ALWAYS ask one another what part of the ‘old country’ their families came from.
Heck... our neighbors, growing up, were Italian and ALWAYS traded stories about whether they were from Sicily, Milano, Calabria... etc. ??

The very FIRST thing one needs to do is to see a picture of this lady the godmother mistook for African. What is she WEARING? How is the hair done? What ‘jewelry’ is she wearing?
If you go to the linked page, the woman who was so aggrieved by the mistake is wearing a bone necklace, has rather ‘different’ hairstyle.... you really can’t see the rest of her ensemble, but I’d say it was an honest mistake and that those woke Brits need to pull that stick our of their keester, myself.

For people who watched season 5 of The Crown, Susan Hussey is the wife of Baron Marmaduke Hussey (the “Dukey” in the TV show) who was head honcho at the BBC in the 1990s. (The real Dukey was more impressive than the TV version IMO ... he did in fact lose his leg in a German POW camp as a result of wounds received at Anzio.)

She said: 'It was such a shock to me and the other two women that we were stunned to temporary silence. I just stood at the edge of the room, smiled and engaged briefly with who spoke to me until I could leave'. Oh, get over yourself and stop whining.
It’s a shame the silence you were “stunned to” was only temporary.

What a ridiculous thing. I don’t think she meant any harm, and in any case, the black woman seemed to be trying to appear African. What is the big deal?

No forgiveness, no going back after this capitol offense to wokeness. This poor woman might as well take a room in the tower of London.
