Hyperion XP-1 Hydrogen Powered Hypercar Has A 1000-Mile Range!

Hyperion has unveiled their XP-1 hypercar, which is powered by a hydrogen fuel cell powertrain and has a total range of more than 1,000 miles. The Hypercar is expected to go into production this year and was spotted on the streets of Las Vegas in 2021. With this car, Hyperion plans to start a revolution in hydrogen-propulsion technology in the automobile industry.

The Hyperion XP-1 can be taken as a prime example of what a hydrogen-powered car can do. For those of you who haven’t heard about this manufacturer, they are new to the automotive business. Unlike other manufacturers using hybrid or fully electric powertrains, they have worked on creating a hydrogen fuel-cell hypercar that has 2000+ hp and a range of 1000+ miles.

Fascinated how even though water vapor is an exponential greenhouse gas compared to gasoline exhaust this is considered superior.

The greenies might have a tough time pitching the idea water vapor is causing global warming... although thankfully it is! (Want to see what a planet is like without enough water vapor to keep it cozy warm, check out Mars.)

Likely not cost effective at all.

Also, plenty of ‘tards would probably blow up their homes or burn them down.

H2 is very expensive to produce.

But when it combusts, it’s clean.

Sure you could build your own refueling station but your electric bill would be in the thousands. Then you have to compress the hydrogen. That would cost a lot more than your house cost.

There’s problems with the fuel cell too especially on days when it’s below freezing. The water vapor created by the hydrogen and oxygen can freeze up and make the fuel cell inoperable.

I’ve worked with high temp hydrogen kilns in the past. Me no like.

Well see the infrastructure and generating capacity is low so the cost is high compared to gas. Theres not really enough out there yet to bring prices down as its not large scale. Also it has a lot more storage issues.

Right now its more expensive. How fast and expansive production and stations come up will help lower costs but like I said it will take a couple decades.

Found a decent article talking about this:

Don’t they need electricty to manfacture hydrogen from water?

Hyperion hasn’t revealed how much the XP-1 will cost but considering its performance and the level of technology, you’re looking at 2-3 million dollars.

I’ll take to please...

Won’t take long, after the original battery dies, most will not afford buying a replacement battery.

. . . until they decide that water vapor is a greenhouse gas. (Which it is. But we’re a closed system on planet Earth and do not create or destroy any new matter.)

Depends on what it’s combusting with. Can’t guarantee you’re getting pure oxygen into any combustion chamber.

Relative to other fuels, H2 is very clean.

BUT ..... there’s no free lunch.

The amount of energy needed to split off H2 is not a little.

You want a flux capacitors? Look up Nuclear Diamond Batteries, which are actually solid state DC generators.

These are the future.

And the BTUs produced are littler still—just under 0.3 percent per gallon of what you get out of gasoline.

Hydrogen loves its hydrogen bonds to be intact, particularly with oxygen.

Produce one first. At low cost.
