Ford is recalling over 550,000 F-150 vehicles in North America, according to a Friday report.
The recall affects F-150 vehicles across the United States and Canada and is the result of a concern that their windshield wiper motors might fail, causing wipers to not operate at all.
The inoperative wipers on the 2021-2022 models could lead to reduced visibility and an increased risk of accidents, Ford said.
At least 453,650 vehicles in the United States and 103,076 in Canada have been recalled, the report noted.
Owners of the vehicles will receive notification letters by Jan. 3, and front windshield wiper motors will be replaced by dealers at no cost.
Yeah you just need to worry about your door actuators not working, unless you live on the equator, cam phasors, vct solenoids, htr/ac infotainment going out. Ford sux.
Yea , they probably still work .
My 2018 automatic windows flub up
I just look at the cs rep and sa this is 1970 tech.
If the motors are made in China don’t blame China if they fail . They are made to GM’s and Ford’s specs and you know they will sacrifice reliability for more profit .
I knew there would be problems when they attached that danged solar panel array to the wiper blades...
Most auto manufactures take the lowest bidder it’s only suites that keep them half way reliable.
“windshield wiper motors might fail.” Simple solution: place a pdf instructions on the Ford F150 web site on how to replace the wiper motor. It’s easy.
we use that in our bathrooms at home
There’s a giant parking lot full of unsaleable ones down at Kentucky Speedway. Lacking some vital computer part.
I really meant F-Series [including all the Fs over 150].
I don’t think Kentucky Truck Plant makes F-150s, but these days who knows?
Once solar powered vehicles are mandated, windshield wipers won’t be an issue since you won’t be able to drive on cloudy days.
That stuff works very well at high speeds, not well at all at low speeds.
Are they going to have to lift the cab off the frame to replace that motor?
My buddy has a 3 yr old F-150 5.0 V8 that has had the cab off twice.
First time was new cylinder heads.
Second time was full short block.
The warranty expense has to be monstrous.
I drive by our local dealer often and the service dept is always jammed with work, running two 10 hr shifts.

Historically Ford pickups are pretty robust but they’ve had some engine bloopers for sure lately.
The impressive thing to me is that the dealer has taken the cab off my buddy’s truck TWICE for engine work and both times it came back with everything working perfectly and no collateral damage. They must have some excellent techs.
I’m sure a software update can fix that. /s
Tell me more...
I have a 2008 F-250. It had to have some front-end work to get rid of the death wobble, but no other problems. Way too much crap under the hood, though. Changing spark plugs used to be easy on my old ‘71.
