Groups (gangs, hordes, whatever) will get bigger, in order to fend off rival groups. Thus, you will inevitably end up with war-lords holding territories. Once that happens, your little family commune with makeshift walls and line-of-sight defenses wont last. War-lords will fall, and territories will get bigger, but the bloodshed will turn into genocide.yup really only 3 options. Hide join or test God.

I am presently lecturing in Argentina. It is unbelievable as to the rate of inflation in this country. My hosts have been educating me on their experiences.

Matt's assessment is spot on and completely consistent with his world view for the last 20+ years. We've had a couple "test runs" with EBT system failures in southern states. The EBT patrons ran wild in the food market. It was a flash mob theft of epic proportions. Fortunately, it was confined to a small geographic location. When the USD fails as a currency, this small "test run" will be a national rollout.

Thanks....you, too!

I have been pressure (and, regular :) canning, for years.

We have a great supply of various pressure canned meats, stews, soups, etc., as well as various dry goods, etc., to last years.

Don’t forget seeds and gardening tools!

Gardening is a skill that takes practice to develop, and it sometimes takes a few tries to find the best varieties for your location and gardening style. If you don’t know how to save seeds, get a book on the subject.

Even if nothing happens, growing your own food is rewarding in ways that are hard to describe.

That depends on where you live. But your point still holds. Wild Game is temporary. Farming and raising feed animals is imperative. Rice, potatoes, wheat, corn and chickens is what will sustain you. And fish. And I can fish.

You prompted my to tell an interesting story:

I used to have a reoccurring dream about going to an outdoor fair. The mood was post-apocalypse. There were tents and tables set up for trade. I was running my finger through a shoe box full of ammunition in search of something I could use. There was nothing there I could use; however, there was a lot of 30-06 ammunition in the box. This dream kept with me for perhaps fifteen years.

I dropped in a local army surplus store, around 1985, and found a mint condition O3-A3 for $125. With no delay and a poker face I purchased that rifle. I never again had that dream.

Years ago I related this to my brother and his wife. Their chins dropped. My brother told me he used to have the very same dream; but, it went away once he bought is Remington 30-06.

Military science does indicate that all other tings being equal, 10-1 odds in manpower will see your demise.
