TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — A man is accused of trying to kill a man after their “mutual slap box fight” got out of control over the weekend, NBC Miami reports.
Pembroke Pines police said the men were “slap fighting””—where two people take turns slapping each other to see who falls down first—in the parking lot outside Rickey’s Sports Bar and Grill around 2:30 a.m. on Sunday.
When the slapping became more violent, one man, identified as Eric Rodriguez, knocked the other to the ground, and started punching and kicking him until he was unconscious.
Police said the victim was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries.
Rodriguez was arrested Tuesday and charged with one count of attempted murder, according to online jail records.
What does the expression “Florida man” refer to? A specific person, a type of person, or what? And why Florida? I started seeing the expression “Florida man” a couple of years ago, and still don’t get it.
Sounds like a fag game.
Weird stories from Florida and the news usually just identifies the person as “FLORIDA MAN”.
They’re special.

I was wondering about that. Florida is touchy about their alligators. I think that’s mostly because crocodiles are so endangered, and most people can’t be trusted to tell the difference.
Sometimes, high achievers like these two fine gentlemen, just need to blow off a little steam, as engineers, lawyers, doctors, and all manner of productive members of society are wont to do...
It’s probably not that strange in Florida. But it is illegal, apparently.
