Two of the NFL’s wealthiest owners had a fiery back-and-forth during a league-wide owners meeting on Tuesday.
The 32 NFL owners voted 31-1 for the compensation committee to reconstruct the contract of commissioner Roger Goodell. His contract is said to be up after the season ends, according to ESPN.
With the way the votes went, the NFL owners appear to be pleased with the job that Goodell has done since he took over the position from Paul Tagliabue in 2006, according to Bleacher Report. The one outlier who voted against the motion to reconstruct Goodell’s deal was none other than Dallas Cowboys owner, Jerry Jones.
Jones and New England Patriots owner, Robert Kraft, reportedly got into a heated exchange during the meeting, according to ESPN. Jones reportedly told Kraft, who voted with the overwhelming majority ,”don’t f— with me,” to which Kraft replied, “excuse me?”
As the motion passed, the boisterous Cowboys owner told Kraft, “don’t mess with me,” ESPN reported. Why Jones went at Kraft so hard is unknown but when two of the richest sports owners in world spar with verbal jabs at one another it makes for an interesting work day.
As the lone voter against the motion, Jones seems just completely unsatisfied with the job Goodell has done. A league source close to Jones told ESPN that the Cowboys owner believes that Goodell needs to do more to earn his new deal. The source said, “he is sensitive to awarding a big bonus to Roger before he performs and earns it.”
There may not be anyone as respected in the NFL as Jerry Jones is, but to put Kraft in check like this is a bush league move.
I thought I read somewhere that blacks don't buy jerseys of white players. You'll never see a black person wearing a Tom Brady jersey for example, even if they're a Bucs fan.
2. There is a major difference between a manufacturing or IT-related business and a sports team. The Toyota Motor Manufacturing plant in San Antonio, for example, has almost 4,000 full-time employees. And that doesn't even include the thousands of people employed at other nearby businesses that wouldn't be there without Toyota. There isn't a professional sports team in North America that comes close to this when it comes to local economic impacts.
3. Of all the different types of sports venues you can consider, an NFL stadium has got to be the absolute worst when it comes to its value to a local economy. Even if it is home to a team that makes a deep run into the playoffs every year and hosts 30-40 other events every year not related to the NFL (concerts, soccer games, etc.), the place is going to be dark for more than 300 days of the year. Nobody is going to invest in a project across the street from that stadium under those circumstances.
Although, there were a lot of dogs named Brady.
The boys from the hood all wear Raiders gear.
I think Dallas Cowboys gear is still sold more than any other team paraphernalia. Frankly, it does not matter which team product you buy. It gets equally divided among all the franchises.
Arguing over pronouns?
Sounds like Communism.
Verbs..................😜
A lot. They don’t tend to be as direct as they are with the stadiums. But they regularly use eminent domain to clear large tracts of land. Redo freeways to make large buildings there usable.
I’m not saying cities SHOULD do that for sports teams. I’m saying I don’t blame sports team owners for taking advantage of the situation. If I could get multiple cities bidding to build me a new house I’d do it. Not my fault their city councils are stupid.
Charlie Rich does...
LOL
Zactly
We are OLD........................
Hah!
"My Son. My Son. I am your father, Jor-El. Your mother and I have sent you to Earth the only survivor of Krypton. As you hear this, I will have been dead many centuries, but I will reborn as Charlie Rich."
LOL!
From 1996: Picking on Dallas owner Jerry Jones after New York’s surprising victory over the Cowboys was fun for Giants owner Wellington Mara. "As I said, it’s always nice to see arrogance humbled," a smiling Mara said Monday in jabbing at the maverick owner. "I enjoy it very much. I wouldn’t mind if you used that quote."
Maybe I shoulda used that for the comedy skit. ;-)
Kraft is on his honeymoon. He just got married. Very attractive ophthamologist.

She should see an eye doctor.
It won’t last, but she did get Tom Brady’s phone number at the wedding...
Jones is “respected”?? Who knew?
